Hi Korean Car Lovers,

The Hyundai Avante (2.) and Kia Forte (2.0) pricing are very close in MY, in term of specification and maintenance; did anyone really do a par assessment and comparison? Which one is worth buy?

Cheers

Both cars (Forte being 1.6) are priced about the same at this moment. However the Avante is actually priced RM93k.

Kia Forte is a current model recently launched while the current Avante's (2.0) showroom lifespan is coming to an end. New model has been launched and is coming up soon to Malaysia!

Base on Busan Auto Show, the new 2011 Avante will be a 1.6L, but BHP is almost equal to the present 2.0L, 138-143BHP range (140BHP if not mistaken).

Comparing the present Avante x20 and Forte 2.0sx (Malaya version)... here are my thoughts... after driven both sample (but only driven Forte 1.6sx)...

1) Comfort - Avante x20
2) Ride/ Handling - Forte
3) Power - Forte (156BHP, 194Nm Torque compared to 143BHP, 186Nm Torque on Avante)
4) Price - Avante x20 (Clearing stock 2010 = RM84k-85k compared to RM94k on Forte 2.0sx)
5) Body rigidity - Avante x20 (go to showroom, just slam the doors on both..., you can see and hear the difference)
6) NVH - almost the same, because both got tire noise intrusion at speeds (unless you change a good silence tires)
7) Warranty - Avante x20 (5 years, or 300,000KM)
8) Service - SD (but this subjective, because, since I make friends with them, they treat you well)

Having said the above, everything in this world is subjective.
You like somethings, others won't.
Just follow your heart, and that is the right choice.

Have a nice day everybody... smile_big.gif

Subjectively, I would rate Forte's looks as one notch above the Avante. However, the latest 2011 Avante, with its fluidic sculpture looks, beats the dated Forte. Again, subjective personal opinion. Hopefully, the 2011 Avante will be priced similar to the Forte but I am not confident that SD is that smart depending on greed instead.

If current Avante 2.0 (1975cc) vs Forte 2.0 (1998cc)
I vote for Forte 2.0 for the better look, new engine Theta & FC. NVH, acceleration and handling wise, Avante X20 wins.

If 2011 Avante 2.0 vs Forte 2.0 by Dec 2010 or Jan 2011:
I vote for Avante 2.0. The Koreans are slow in preparing the Avante 2.0 smile_angry.gif
1.6L GDI will not be brought in but instead will share with its bigger bro Sonata's powerplant, Theta II dual CVVT engine + 6-speed auto.
Price wise, expect Avante to be close to RM100k or slightly more as Hyundai is labelled as higher end of Kia. THey are so slow in bringing in the new Avante and Verna....

Additional info:

9) Looks and design - Forte (Avante x20 - design and build in end of 2006)
10) Tech and Gadgets - Forte (because of latest design)
11) Power-train - Forte (both 4 speed AT but Forte with +/- shift-tronics)
12) Safety - Forte 2.0sx (6 air-bags; 2 front, 2 side and 2 side-curtain air-bag)
12) Safety driving - Forte 2.0sx (Traction-control, Stability control, EBD, ABS etc.)

2011 Hyundai Avante
.

Kia Forte
.
And Koreans are pretty...
Hopefully, with these pictures, Korean cars can get better sales... laugh.gif

After saying all this, 2011 Avante is worth the wait, but pricing will be a bit let-down base on existing 2010 Tucson and the upcoming 2011 Sonata SD... CBU version price-list.
All in all, the Forte 2.0sx is a still a better buy because of new design, new tech, new safety standards and reliability.
Why..? Just see all the Kia Spectras around... alive and still kicking... smile_big.gif
Good luck... smile_approve.gif
