Thx for the update khlee! Too bad couldnt wait til the 15th...had alr serviced (KS) yesterday...

some info for those yet to do 10k service..

Petronas Syntium 3000 5w30 4L + 1L - rm209 + rm58 (took back the remaining oil)
oil filter - rm64
washer drain plug - rm5
radiator coolant (optional), total of 4L to flush - rm 35.7/2L
labor to change coolant - rm35

Car does feel lighter and smoother a little...but no changes to FC...yet...perhaps another tank to see the diff

No worry...Sharing what I know from my contact.

BTW, just to clarify the point that this DOST NOT mean GeotAuto will automatically use this new Total Quartz INEO ECS engine for 308. I heard they are still using both Quartz9000 5W30 and 5W40.

My suggestion for those who really interested to use this proven and recommended oil is to buy it from the contact I have given and then service your 308 at KS.

Again, this is just my sharing information. The final decision is yours to make.

Cheers//KH

Life is short. Seize the day!

A Syntium specifically for BMWs

Petronas Dagangan today commemorated its partnership with Sapura Auto, a BMW authorised dealer, in a symbolic signing ceremony held at the latter's 3S (sales, services and spare parts) centre here in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.

Under the partnership, Petronas Dagangan will be supplying Sapura Auto with its high-performance, fully-synthetic engine oil, the Syntium 3000 LL, that has been exclusively developed by Petronas for BMW engines.

Signing on behalf of the two companies were Sapura Auto CEO Mohamad Mohar Ibrahim and Petronas Dagangan managing director/CEO Ibrahim Marsidi.

"As the largest petroleum products marketer in the country, we are committed to providing only the best quality products and services to the consumers,” said Ibrahim.

The Syntium 3000 LL is a BMW Longlife-01 (LL-01) approved oil, and the SAE 5W-30 multigrade meets ACEA A3/B3/B4 specifications. Features of the Syntium 3000 LL include exceptional thermal and oxidation stability as well as excellent engine cleanliness. The oil will not be retailed in the market, but is only available as a service fill.

With the Syntium 3000 LL, discerning BMW owners can experience for themselves an ultra-smooth engine performance on demand, Ibrahim added.

Why are we charged a bomb for a simple oil filter? Things that we have to change periodically should be made very cheap isn't it? http://www.cbccarspa...wl7413-27-p.asp
It only cost 5 quid in Birmingham so anything more than RM35 sold in m'sia is considered very expensive.

I was surfing around & found this site http://www.opieoils....my-vehicle.aspx
where they recommend certain engine oil for cars. Total is not one of the products in this web site, but Motul is.

For 308 THP, the EP6DT engine
Engine Oil
Gulf Formula G 0w-30 fully synthetic engine oil (0w30)
Fuchs TITAN SUPERSYN SAE 0W-30 Fully Synthetic, Super Fuel Economy
Castrol EDGE 0W-30 for modern engines
Motul 8100 X-lite 0W-30 petrol and diesel engine oil 100% Synthetic – Ester Based
Amsoil Synthetic Engine Oil Signature Series 0w-30
Upgrade Engine Oil
Gulf Formula LEF 5w-30 fully synthetic engine oil (5w30)
Motul 8100 Eco-clean 5W-30 – ACEA C2 Gasoline & Diesel lubricant for Euro IV engines
Fuchs TITAN GT1 PRO C-2 5W-30 Synthetic Engine Oil For the latest Peugeot & Citroen Vehicles

For 308 VTi, the EP6 engine
Engine Oil
Gulf Tec Plus 5w-40 semi-synthetic engine oil (5w40)
Mobil Synt S 5W-40 Superior performance synthetic engine oil
Gulf Formula G 5w-40 fully synthetic engine oil (5w40)
Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 Gasoline and Diesel engine oil 100% Synthetic
Fuchs TITAN SUPERSYN 5W-40 High Performance, Fully Synthetic, Engine Oil
Castrol Edge TD 5W-40 advanced synthetic engine oil
Upgrade Engine Oil
Gulf Formula LEF 5w-30 fully synthetic engine oil (5w30)
Motul 8100 Eco-clean 5W-30 – ACEA C2 Gasoline & Diesel lubricant for Euro IV engines
Fuchs TITAN GT1 PRO C-2 5W-30 Synthetic Engine Oil For the latest Peugeot & Citroen Vehicles

After checking with the local oils website http://www.myoilstore.com/
it seems the more expensive Signature Series 0W-30 100% Synthetic Motor Oil (SSO)
http://www.amsoil.co...efront/sso.aspx
dares to put up an a 4-ball wear test as tested by independant labs. Mobil1 seems to be their target!

Its just another low SAPS oil. Most top brand oils are already low SAPS. I think current regulation for low Sulfated Ash is 1%wt and below.
