Bro. Mike,

Both are Yoko A-Drive family.

AA-01 are entry level tyres. Symmetric in pattern.

http://www.yokohama.co.nz/a_drive.html

AR-01 are slightly higher in performance. Directional in pattern design.

http://www.yokohama....a_drive_r1.html

Check the link for the pattern and you will know which tyres you are having.....

Just changed 2 front tyres of my waja to yoko c-drive. Previously was on my 3rd set of gyear nct5. 195/55/15. RM170/piece at Hock Li Kelang. G/year was still at RM155/piece. Just gatal want to try this tyre. small difference to pay oni..

Verdict. Too early to say. But nct 5 feels much stable on the h/way. I drive from shah alam to klia vv every single day so I can tell the difference. Cdrive feels a litte "giddy" - got geli-geli feeling a bit. nct 5 feels firmer.

noise level.. c drive wins. a quiet tyre compared to nct 5. may be its still new and silica based. on city road also quieter than nct 5. very soft material. absorbs most bumbs better than nct 5. but silica based, my previous falken ziex 3#* Japan made.. can't remember the series, was quiet at the beginning but terribly noisy as it wears. silica sidewalls are also soft. tore my falken sidewall twice.. ouch.. due to FOD on the road. Was on Wira 1.8 DOHC that time...

sometimes feel like the tyre got its mind of its own. its trying to correct the steering. maybe because its uni directional tyre. dunno.. maybe... not a tyre expert.

tread wear rated at 300, temperature A.. nct 5 tread wear 230, tempretaure A. wouldn't expect the yoko to last as long as the nct 5 due to silica compound.

wet performance.. have not got the chance to try yet. it has not been terribly wet on the ELITE highway yet. wait n see lah...

still getting use to the tyre.
Kena TAPAU everyday to work....

NCT5 feel stable??? maybe on dry la... try it on the wet my fren... used NCT5 on my stock tires with Vios...
my ABS is activated if i'm driving on the downhill and step on the brke a bit hard... with 30% thread left...
1 word... sucks... dry grip ok la... if you are fussy you know what i mean...
Michelin PP2 is much more ok... or Yokohama S drive
those 2 tyres have more grip trust me...

NCT5 and C-Drive quite the same status loh. PP2 and S-Drive are of different level. Cannot compare like that....

NCT5 when new still okay. When the sipes (micro cuts in between the block) wears down then the performance drops. This is at about 30% and performance starts to drop..... smile_sad.gif
