Hi there Guys and Gals.

Just bought a Suzuki Jimny, came over to the threads, and realized that there aren't really any threads about it here.

Ade_Lee,

I think I finally found somebody who can tell me more about this vehicle. I have the idea of buying one too.

ha ha, great to know that there are people besides company construction
drivers who'd actually go out and spend that amount of money for a jimny.

My jimny was bought just recently, the suspension is horrible, it can't go
fast (only 140kmh maxed out) the steering feel is ZERO, its noisy, and the
wipers are useless.

but, the fun factor is high, i get to pay toll at eye level, changed two
front tires nearly cost me 450, sound system i can repair myself,

overall, its still a fun car, especially in the wets when i engage 4wd, go
into the laterite shoulder road and overtake all them protons and toyotas
mua ha ha ha ha!

maintenance is easy, hence the usability of this car. but if compared to a
sedan, cannot lor. =)

my next few projects on my jimny

1) Central locking and alarm
2) Fog lamps on the bullbar
3) Sound system upgrade (speakers and head unit mebbe). Aerial as well.
4) change the rubber lining of the doors (wind noise too loud)

whacya gonna do with yours tel?

Bolt on a set of Volvo portal axles and a set of 35" wheels and you will
have your very own 1:1 scale Tonka hotwheel toy truck!! I have actually
seen one like that on the road, no kidding, it looks like a mini big foot
monster truck. A very serious off road machine, looks way cool too.

But can the 1.3 engine move that thing with such a big wheel?Personally I
wouldn't do that to a daily driver.I drive a SJ410 as a daily driver.Have not done much mod bcos the SJ 410 in stock form with the rite tyre is a very capable 4x4.

Volvo portal axles has built-in reduction gear (2 selectable ratios) and
diff lockers, a 1.3 litre engine will have no problem driving the 35"
wheels, but your top speed will be restricted to about 100kmh. I do agree
that such an extreme setup will be very impractical as a daily commuter.
I always have soft spot for Jimny with its all metal flat panel boxy
look. It has the same sort of charm of a LandRover Defender.

i actually know the guy who did that to his Toyota Landcruiser. Fella
based in Tanjung Malim and his car came out in cars and bikes in the
star. Way cool looking but seriously impractical for everyday driving.

However, my question goes back to the seats.... help guys....

Oh.. as for the seats, get a pair of Citroen BX front seats, they are as
good as Recaros in terms of comfort and support, but may look a bit out
of place in a Jimny.
