Hi

Hope you guys can help me. Having problem starting my car (Wira 1.5 Efi)
after stopping and turning off the engine for awhile. Had to crank a few
times and in the end, have to step on the accelerator then ok. Funny thing
is my car can start without any problems in the morning. This problem only
happens once in awhile especially after turning off the engine for a short
while. Most of the time it is fine. Battery is new.

Any suggestion on which part I should check?

Thanks in advance.

It might be your car's starter solenoid is sticky, so sometimes it work
well and sometimes it wont work and so you need to crank many times when
it is stuck. The condition should be like having dead battery..rite? If
not then it could other problems

ok ok..wrote down all the possibilities already. thanks guys.

i went to the workshop..eon one. the foreman checked using the pdt device
(dunno what's the correct name but it checks the electronic circuits ).
All was reported ok. No errors.

funny thing, this morning car started ok...as usual. took to the
workshop, my car started with no problems also. start, turn off. wait for
awhile, start again, it starts. Sigh..really mind boggling.

anyway, he took out the spark plugs, 3 were fine, 1 was wet with engine
oil. so he said, possibly this could be the cause. so changed the spark
plugs. Told em i will monitor it. On and off, this problem will occur for
no specific reason except that the car engine is still warm and after
short stops.

really confusing.

i experienced this too with my year 2002 wira a/b 1.5 M. sent it to many
proton edar service center, they change starter, change alternator,
change one of the electronic part locate under dashboard (and they spoilt
my cover! ######), come to the end, no one seems to be able to solve this
problem.

i wasn;t feel comfortable to modify my car wiring, untill at last i went
to a roadside workshop, the old mechanic saw my problem and recommended
me to add a set of wire with relay. all plug and play. and the problem
solved. i can start my car no matter in the morning or after short drive
or under hot sun.

i monitor long long time, this problem only occur when u drive out at 12
noon which is very hot sunny day, then you park, and you will not able to
start it.

go add the relay, cost me RM70 last time.

hi spermy...yeah...my friend told me bout doing that relay..something
like bypass the usual connection so that when you start there's more
juice to the starter.

i guess it's related to the fuel pump relay eh ....

Will monitor first.

haha..go ahead continue monitor. and it is your car anyway.

i monitored mine for half year, and no one can solve it. i did check it
with the pdt stupid device, and shows no error too. it is not the fuel
pump, not alternator, not spark plug, not starter, not chip problems. so
many things, all relate to starting car, after checking one by one, none
shows sign of starting problem "after drive under hot sun".

i only suspect the stability of the electronics device we have inside
proton car. and i tell you what, the wiring job for new proton wira is
very bad. no proper QC at all. i got mine brake wire cut off by clutch
pedal! and my air cond compressor wire got disconnected when i make 90
left turn at 40km/h.

my Satria oso having the same symptom, have done the below

1) PDT checking, no error found
2) Change spark plug cable, still the problem remain
3) Add in starter relay, still the problem remain

so i tot of just bear with it since after done some many time problem
still there. But just last week, after service the car, i don't have this
problem anymore. It just a normal oil change service, now still monitoring.

yeah..it is an intermediate problem. ok most of the time, until one day
it happens.

I guess my next course of action if it happens again is to add the
starter relay.

cheers.
