Firstly, let me congratulate you on narrowing down your selections to
these 2 MPVs. They are in my opinion very good cars.

I drive the Berlingo series 1 and have covered 180,000 kms. Services are
recommended by Directional at 15,000kms but actually manufacturer says
20,000 kms.

I usually do mine around the 15,000 to 17,000 kms mark. MPG is around 40
average, say about 45 litres takes me at least 580 kms while on the
highway I can get around 670 kms. I have touched 720 kms (without aircond
and keeping under 115 kms on the highway) all on a full tank which is
about 48 litres. The brochure says 50 litres for the tank but I have
never come down to that level. Expect total city driving to be around 30-
34 mpg.

Also expect to service the car every 6 months for around 500 rm using
fully synthetic. It may be less or even more if you have to change the
timing belt (60kms by Directional but manufacturer says 100kms, as I
recall). That should be around 450rm for parts only from memory.

I have had only 1 breakdown in the last 6 six years .. clutch cable
spring broke but it gave me a lot of signs which I chose to ignore. The
clutch was getting very spongy for at least 1000 km prior to breakage.

Also, I work in Singapore where both Kangoo and Berlingo are abundant. I
have yet to see any of these cars broken down on the Singapore roads for
the last 8 years (they have been in SGP for over 8 years now). So, I
think they are fairly reliable cars.

You need to test drive these cars and see for your self. They are evenly
matched that`s for sure.

I have a preference for Citroen`s though. When the roads get tough...the
Citroens get going.
