I will buy whichever model (depending on the salesman's attitude). Anyway, I might end up with the Nissan Sentra because Toyota sales people are among the lousiest with poor manners. smile_angry.gif

i dun think i got the chance to experience that as i will go for used car not new car. In market now, Sentra1.8 is cheaper than altis 1.8... smile_tongue.gif

so sentra is good buy than altis? performance, FC and maintenance wise any comment?

Must ask those Sentra owners. Perhaps jayraptor can give u some comments. He is "very the pro woh"... smile_tongue.gif But I doubt he will give good ratings to the N16 since the car has no ABS. smile_big.gif But please provide correct and valid information ok. smile_thumbup.gif

Err.. Sentra 1.8 comes with ABS + EBD. If beli in 2006/2007, after discount shud be around RM90-91k OTR as compared to RM113k of the Altis 1.8. So surely 2nd value cheaper by similar quantum...

Hi miki mao!!

Yes, need info? Will try to stay accurate. Toyota salesmen have worst attitude but you can find friendlier Toyota salesman at authorised dealers that are non-UMW. If I buy Toyota, definitely from those dealers instead of UMW.
Pros & Cons of Altis 1.8G vs Sentra 1.8XG-L:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Altis 1.8G
- interior width better, more legroom
- more safety features with Traction Control & VSC
- engine is more advanced (all aluminium)
- better acceleration 0-100km/h in 10s
- handling good
- FC at 12-12.3km/L

Engine 1ZZ-FE DOHC 1794cc
aluminium head + block
borexstroke : 79.0x91.5
output : 100kW(136PS)@6000rpm
torque : 171Nm(17.4kg-m)@4200rpm
VVT-i (low end only)

Turning radius/circle : 5.2m/10.4m
curb weight : around 1200kg ( I forgot)
Tyre : 195/55 R16 all disc brake
Torsion beam suspension
-----------------------------------------------------------

Sentra 1.8XG-L
- interior headroom good, interior better styling
- looks better especially with the Teana style facelift in 2006. I still like the ori 2001 Sentra 1.8 better
- better build quality for exterior & interior, more solid
- handling good
- boot same as Altis 430L
- FC at 11km/L

Engine QG18DE DOHC (1769cc) 16valve inline4
aluminium head + cast iron block
bore x stroke : 80.0x88.0
output : 94kW(128PS)@5600rpm
torque : 165Nm(16.7kg-m)@4400rpm
VTC (low end only) hydraulic valve timing actuator

Turning radius/circle : 5m/10m
curb weight : 1188kg
Tyre : 195/60 R15 all disc brake
Torsion Beam suspension
---------------------------------------------------------

Both got split fold 60:40 and are practical cars. Boot space the same at 430L and both having similar handling. Altis 1.8 engine generates high torque and is still on par with today's 1.8L engine's torque which is at >170Nm.

Yes, valve timing chain. Once a car has valve timing like VTC, C-VTC, VVT-i, MIVEC, i-VTEC, etc will definitely need timing chain to support its valvetiming actuator. Sentra 1.8 is great ride with ABS, EBD, BA & alldisc brake!!
