Hi guys..(esp xsara owners),

It's been 4 mths plus since I bought my 2nd hand xsara, I think that the
fuel consumption is quite high..

Isi full tank RM 70, can only go +/- 430km until the next filling, town
driving. I expect it shld run more km compared to my old 2.0 zx.

If it's high, what could I do to get the normal xsara FC? Need advice..

Thnx!!

yes....
i a;ready used for 13 months.. also 2nd car from kl.. from sungai petani
kedah to kl around 450 km.... cost below RM40.00.... for citytown run...
quite expensive round ur figure....frequent changing the gear
ratio....but my car around 550km for RM60.00...

very-very good car.... as i experience with ZX 2.0i and xantia
2.0i....less problems...
just change the rear left brake pump, rear lefr hub bearing and labour
cost about RM260.00.... not ori one.. but OEM parts similar to peugor
306...

another one is ignition coil.. cost me RM 200.00 2nd part from kedai
potong at subang.. just fix by myself....

the most easier to detect the problem when the sport & winter mode near
to the gear knob blinking & also the 'STOP' appear in meter..ur car may
having the problem...also cannot start at 'P' gear.. try to start at 'N'
gear...check all detail functional working parts....

contac me if u need assistant 019 - 422 4460.. fatah or harapan auto at
gombak... syam, mechanic... his brother working at directional gombak..
he has at lot of xsara experience....

I bought my Xsara new (year 2002) and the fuel consumption before the
latest fuel increase to RM1.42 a litre, my Xsara fuel consumption is about
RM0.11 cents to one kilometre on a city driving without high revving
(normal driving).

On highway driving, it only cost about 10 cents to a kilometre.

But now, with the fuel increased of 0.5 cents per litre then I think it's
around 12 cents per kilometre for city driving and 11 cents for highway
driving, and all at average revving (not more than 4,000 rpm).

Mine has lower fuel consumption before it's a new Xsara, the engine is
still very efficient. And, I only send my Xsara to Directional for
servicing. Therefore, everything that they use are of a higher quality
hence the servicing bill is higher too.

Looking at your fuel consumption, it's about 16 cents to a kilometre.
That's acceptable for a 3 years and above car of 1,600 cc engine and
depending on the condition of the car.

Cheers

I think we suppose to calculate the fuel consumption as kilometer per
litre.. as if based on the money.. the price for petrol and diesel is rise
every year... so for the right calculation.. pump fuel to your engine based
on litre.. then get how long it will take your car in mix or highway road
condition... the value will be in xxkm/L or xx mpg (miles per gallon) ...as
this value will not affected by the increase in fuel price

I can be calculated that way if only you want to track the fuel consumption
level. Where else, I'm calculating base on the cost per km. So I can decide
should I drive to point B or take a cab or take LRT :-)
