Don't forget the AC belt tension and alignment. Both improperly adjusted
can lessen the life of the AC compressor

hi guys,

to me, if your air con is working well, don't spend any money
to 'service' it. air con system is a close system and it should run for
years until one of the components leaks. i can bet 90% so call air con
service shop out there don't know the actual spec for each type of
compressor oil requirement and gas quantity. the best bet will be going
back to either Sanden or Denso sevice center for repairing.

most of them will charge the gas based on 'feeling' and top up compressor
oil with cheap compressor oil. this is make sure in a short future they
will get more business bcos it will get faulty sooner.

chemical wash is another no no thing. the aluminium condensor inside the
car will get thiner and not more protection coating. infact, it will
make leaks sooner.

if u really want to service the system, then u can go for shop with close
loop flushing machine which is limited in malaysia. it will fully remove
all the oil, dirt and flush with pure gas. u can see what kind of dirt
coming out. then fill up proper PAG oil for compressor and refill the
gas to spec. no more no less.

here is the contact for such service... AirCon Station, 019-3677741. i
am one of the happy customer. for more info about the flushing
machine...check out this

Yes, I agree. Nowadays aircond system bcom quite reliable and maintenance-
less. Most ppl only service after problem occur bcos without air cond, the
car still can move. If all air cond service centre give their customer tip-
top servicing, dont know what they going to eat later. They will make sure
we'll come back after servicing.

Agree with Tazztham, that guy Ayie got some good machines, no doubt. He
uses imported fully synthetic compressor lube. Just a little bit on the
high side on pricing but I am not complaining considering the effort he put
during my Kancil's service. And, he should look for a better and more
accesible location as his shop.

Having said that, you can get something similar at Denso's SC at Glenmarie
(opposite BMW showroom)at a somewhat lower cost. Their machine is older
obviously but should be at the almost same level of function. Here you get
to fill original ND compressor lube.

At both places (Ayie's and ND), if you look at the old compressor lube
being extracted, you will understand automatically the need to do periodic
maintenance or your aircond. You will see also what kind of lube your
previous aircond guy used and how it changed color (deteriorated) after all
these years.

Regards.

Yeah, Denso's SC certainly outbeat most of the aircon workshops, but they
are one step behind Ayie's shop(Aircon Station) in term of machine's
capability. At present, machine used by Ayie is the only brand in the
world which can remove 95% or more old and contanminated compressor oil
from the whole aircon system without using any chemical, just refrigerant.
Therefore correct amount and type of new oil according to factory specs
can be confidently inject in after the service, no more overfill and
underfill which is very critical.
You won't want somebody to inject 50ml of correct grade of new oil into
your aircon system to mix with 100ml of wrong grade and contanminated oil
which is still in the system, just because the machine they use recover
only 50 ml of old oil. where the compressor system may require 180ml of
oil.
Ayie is using the highest quality of cartridge PAG oil, and with his high
investment in the technology along with his professionalism, I don't see
anything is wrong with his pricing. Muhamed Taib's S Class spend more
than 15k in aircond repair and service somewhere and problems not solved.
Ayie "Kow Tim' his car aircon without any parts change for less than 1k.

Hi Billy,

Yep, understood what you mentioned. That's why I said I am not complaining
abt his(Ayie's) services/charges. I saw what he did throughout the service
and was totally satisfied with his work. And he never did mind explaining
to me whatever he did.

ND's recommendation is given coz I feel if there is anyone who feel they
are not willing or afford to pay for that kind/level of service, they still
have an alternative to turn to, instead of going to some half-past-6
workshops. As mentioned in yours and my previous post, ND is just a step
lower as reflected in their pricing, but still offering high quality
service. Have to add though, ND SC queue can be quite long and they might
turn you away if their daily quota is up. Be there early if you wanna go there.

Hi leongts, got what you mean. Many of after market aircon shops are not
aware of some technologies of modern aircon system, even if they do, they
can't be bothered.

I was involved in a seminar organised by MLVK In JB and Penang early last
year. The seminar was about government ruling about car aircon industry,
aircon technology know how and global warming issue.

Most attendees are car aircon shop operators and some OEM representatives.
Feed back from most of them are; If they follow the right procedures too
much, how to cari makan if compressor and other parts hard to break down,
PAG oil (which is essential for R134a system) is too costly so just use
normal cheap compressor oil (which is actually for cold room compressor),
original 100% R134a refrigernt tank from Dupont is too costly so buy
mixed one(R12, R22, HC,& R134a mixed is harmful)China brand cheap
cheap...blah blah blah. Thankfully there are minority who's willing to
learn and adapt the changes, they even stayed back and bought us dinner
in the hotel after the seminar just want to understand further.

Car aircon, like brake fluid and coolant are some of the most ignorant
issues among car users. That's where the trend and culture of the
workshop will stay on.

"Feed back from most of them are; If they follow the right procedures too

Hahaha...true also. That same situation for spare parts of Jap cars in the
70s and 80s. Too reliable until shops hard to cari makan. My Kancil is
11years old next week and still using its ori Denso compressor. Had been
using PAG everytime it was sent for service. During the last service at
Ayie there, the Hi-Lo pressure was still very good. So I think there is
much proof in your statement.

One thing I wasn't 100% sure is the gas purity, something which we can't
judge without using some analyser. So had to base it on trust.

"original 100% R134a refrigernt tank from Dupont is too costly so buy
mixed one(R12, R22, HC,& R134a mixed is harmful)China brand cheap
cheap..."

Hmmm...maybe that explains why the cost of refilling R134a refrigerant had
came down tremendously. When my car was new, I mouth itchy asked some
shops how much for R134a refill and the answers were RM90-120. And the
last 3 years, the cost has gone down to RM30-70.

Thanks for sharing infos with end users, Billy. Really appreciate it. BTW,
any pointer oon how to enhance Kancil's aircond effectiveness? Change
dashboard to L5 ones? Add 2nd fan to frint of condenser? Thanks again.

Regards.

wow..i am surprise so many Ayie's customer here? you guys know him from
me or from the forum? the reason i ask is because i posted a lot about
his service a yr ago telling about the machines they are using. anyway,
it is a good sign for everyone.

to get to Aircon Station, if u coming from KL using federal hwyway, take
the Padang Jawa left exit right before the toll. merge to right after
exit and turn right at trafic light. after a short drive over Esso, turn
left. u see a few rows of new shops at your left now. take the first
left turn and immediately right. Aircon Station is somewhere in the
middle facing the main road. Sign board is orange color... tell him
Tham refer u and he might give u special rate...

cheers...
