I'm driving an Accord SM4, manual and caburetor type. Currently is
thinking of getting a half cut to upgrade my engine and also to change all my problematic driveshaft & power sterling. I know that SM4 has few models, import and local type. Can anyone suggest me the best half cut model? Thanks |

Hi ahchi,
What happen to ur F20b project? KIV aa... If u want sm4 halfcut, go for the F20a DOHC engine in CB3/4 chassis from si model (JDM). Last time I ask going for Rm2500... while ur at it, get the Rr disc also and forget abt installing the 4WS. Go for later ones (93 model is the last). U also get digital acond as bonus...hehe |

Ai... the F20b project seems a dream only. First of all, so difficult to
get on & even can find it, I think probably not the price I affordable? Secondly, I asked some of the Honda spare part shop, they just say the part for F20B engine very rare, which stop me to think futher when imagine the for the maintenance jobs in the future. Thirdly, there also no much mech familiar with the F20B transplant skill, where I ask some of them and they all say no confident to transplant, especially the wiring part. That's why I think I need to be more realistic this time, just find the most suitable to put into my SM4. BTW, is there any advantage I can gain if I replace my old F20A carb, manual engine with the F20A DOHC from CB3/4 JDM model as mentioned? Well, thank putone anyway. |

aisehh...I tot can see 1st F20B in sm4 if u do it..nvm...being realistic
is good. advantages...hmm..power/torque max at 150hp/191Nm Ur current engine with carb figures are around 110hp/160Nm.. there's already a useful increase of 40 hp and 30Nm of torque. Downside (to me at least)is just the looks. Cannot compare to the pretty DOHC VTEC sign on H22A engine cover. I'd say if u drop in the H22a...that's gonna be huge I still think this is the way to go if u have the $$$ Spaperparts are aplenty, mechanics are 'more' familiar with the engine.. then again...need to upgrade ur front suspension..coz of the xtra weight..more $$$ lah |

The SM4 twincam engine is good but some of the parts very hard to get at
chopshop (Compressor & pressure switch and so on) if u not into power go for the single cam (alot alot on spareparts). |

Agree with putone. H22a and its spareparts are easily sourced.
Advantages - 200Hp stock no mod watsoever (hehe) - cool DOHC VTEC engine cover - mechanic are more familiar with this engine cos Preludes and SV4s has this engine (if i am correct). - cheaper than F20B (F20B newer and rare) Cons - Higher roadtax - Difficulty in changing timing belt |

F20B from CF4 Accord EuroR - Tiptronic i believe. 4.5k last seen, shedden
was selling it.. try that one out :D woohoo! I think he still has it, check around..you'd find his postings somewhere in here. PS : who wants to buy a front strut bar from my SM4? Faster.. I'm selling car in about 2-3 weeks time, I want to take everything out... Also... 4-2-1s, Rimus made. Trade with your 4-1s and you pay for workmanship (30 - 40), that's all. and anything else...nope nothing else...Aha... Splitfire spark plug cables! Trade with your own + RM20. |

Hi Putone,
Is the 150hp/191Nm for manual or auto? So overall the model I should find is it CB3/4, F20A DOHC 2.0, fuel injection, twin cam and yr 93 JDm model? How's the fuel consumption of this engine as compare to my original stock F20A? Besides, I just found that some forumer posting problems about their CF4, I think it's wise not to choose the CF4 half cut, right? |

ahchi,
check out the link below. Mr 5550 is kind enuff to translate the spec page of all JDM sm4 accords. If the engine is in good condition, it`ll definitely give good fuel consumption. Musteng2, K20B arr...hehe the engine itself is more expensive than the car man.. |
