dear sifu sifu sekalian.....
it's been a while since I changed my tyres and here I am....going to change my tyres again

seeking some advise on what tyres should i go for

i'm open for brands like Conti, Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Toyo

size:

front: 235/45 17"

rear: 245/45 17" or 255/40 17"

this is the recommended tyre setup for BMW E39 M Sports type 66 rims

basically it should be 235 fronts and 255 rears....255/40 rear sort of left me with the most high end stuffs from tyre manufacturers therefore the other option is 245/45 which is slightly smaller

i'm considering CSC5 or CSC3 depending on pricing....
either that Michelin PS3.....

any other recommendations?

i have customized my absorbers with Titans running with M-Sport springs

245/45R17 is 2.6% bigger in diameter over 255/40R17.

You won't go wrong with any of the branded top category tyres you have mentioned...

You can add Falken FK453, Yokohama Advan V105, GY Asy2

Budget range are Nexen and GT Radial. GT Radial are up and coming...

Actually quite pening oso coz the base tyre is 225/55/16

which makes 245/45/17 actually correct.

Oh! you up size already. In that case, you can stick to 245/45R17 should be cheaper also....

If doing 50/50, on/off road, try A/T tyres instead. Better for off road but will be noisier on road....

No experience with A/T tyres but basically their traction more for Mud & Snow (M+S) rated
You can also look at Bridgestone Dueler A/T, Pirelli Scorpion ATR

Yes, I think that it is better because a different rolling diameter will change the gearing on the RWD car too. If you use the wider tyre, acceleration will feel more sluggish due to the higher gearing and greater grip.
