What is the life span of a car battery? And how about the battery in our
Waja? Question

Anyone changed his/her battery before? How to determine that a battery is
going to be changed before it dies off? Question

Depends really, the more you use your car the shorter the lifespan. And
the more accessories you have, like ICE, the shorter it will be. Anything
from 1 year to 2 years based on my experience.

How to determine? A bit tricky that one unless you constantly check your
battery levels. Signs may include,

1. difficulty in starting
2. bulging of your battery case on the sides
3. battery water spillage
4. frequent top up of battery water
5. Lights go dimmer than usual

But normally, it fails without much notice given.

dat's a good question... i am not sure if there is a good answer since it
is dependant on so many factors.

anyhow, mine was change at 1 year and 11 months. the original stock
century battery had not conked yet, but there were some signs which made
it uncomfortable for me...
1. alarm behaving strangely (alarm going off suddenly
without 'provocation')
2. battery meter playing disco lights when playing bassy songs (which draw
larger currents to the amp)

anyway... i think i cud have hung on to the battery a little longer but
decided not to play damsel in distress for aam to rescue me... cos the
battery they supply are limited in choice and i had no plans to wait by
the side of the road for hours. Tongue

anyhow, i want to upgrade my battery to a ns70 yokohama. so, i bought a
new one for own own peace of mind. Smile

yim is right, not much notice given when the battery dies. Mine died off
in 10 months. When time comes, you will know the battery is dead from the
sign above mention by yim.

My current battery in the waja lasted only about 1.5 years. Had tell tale
signs so replaced immediately. I once had a battery lasting me 2.5 years
in my old car.

I suppose one of the cheapest and quite accurate method is to get one of
those plug in ciggy type battery checker which shows the condition of your
battery. If it dips to low, then you know something`s not that right with
your batt and take preventive correction.

most batteries (in normal situations, without the keng keng ICE like
weezy's) konk between 20-24 months. why dun just get the maintenance free
batteries, i think they last "forever" Big Smile

**piaks the ahpek** where got larhh!! aiyooo! dun pull me into the water
larhh!!

mine lasted 20 - 24 months wot!! and remembering the trip to ac delco last
time... my car had the undercharging problem oso... so not bad liao...

AFAIK, the maintenance free battery dun last 'forever' unless you have
some other definition for 'forever'... Big Smile

another symptom to look for in a dying battery is the battery water drying
up and having to refill it countless times... a bit like ah dave's
radiator. i remember some of the senior waja members who had this
problem... so, good to check the battery water from time to time Wink if
you let it go dry, its time to buy!! Tongue
