i dont know whats it called but i know one type with a card-like transponder.
the card must be inside the car preferably with the driver and this will disable the system.
when the car is jacked and the driver (owner) gets throw out frm the vehicle, the culprit is able to drive the car for a certain distance before the engine shutsdown and the alarm will makes noise.i think the most the car can be driven in city is abt 5km.
this way the driver is safe as the car and the culprit is far away from him therefore no 2nd attempt will be make.

gps tracking system is also available at a bit higher price not including its annual fee.
however if u recall a news few years back, when the police got there the car is already stripped.mind u its been only few hours.

i think @Gunnerzz have right solution the use of GPS. This is best to find the car thief with proof. Also some new Gps have advance technology which sends notification about the car location. according to me GPS is best for security.

It is the ability in your GPS to automatically shutdown your device as well as give you info about the location of your car. In your vehicle GPS unit, there is an option to input the data to each of your devices that you have. For example, for each of the devices mentioned, you would simply input either the devices serial number, or make, and model of the device.
