Hi all,

I will be getting a new Sylphy soon. I've been driving Proton Preve for a while but missed my previous Sentra. Going back to Nissan now, mainly for the solid feeling.

I have one question for all those car 'sifus' out there. Is it alright to turn off the engine while the car is in Neutral and then shift to 'P'? In my previous Sentra I found that when I shift to 'P' and turn of the engine, sometimes it is hard to shift the gear to 'R' or 'D' after starting the engine.

Regards,

maran

Congrats bro for getting new car. I am the same as you, used to Nissan car, like the comfort and almost silent engine.
My new car also Nissan.

The gear stuck problem mostly due to the car was parked on slope and you shift to P before pulling the hand brake.
I pull/press the hand/foot brake first before shift to P and the problem much reduced.

Thank you, Sir. Congrats on you new car too!

Yeah, I could have been careless at times and turned of the engine while in 'P' and then only pulled the hand brake. Will be careful with my new Sylphy.

Regards...

The new Sylphy boast of good fuel economy to the tune of 15.5 km/lit boldly printed on the doors of their test car.
Hopefully this is achievable in real world condition.
