My Optra 1.6, mileage 22,000km

1L = 10km (14.2sen/km) on average for town use (Penang)
Highway, I can get about 12.5-13 sen/km cruising around 110-130km/h all
the way.

Petrol prices now 14.2sen/L so don't be fooled by "higher" FC readings!

Good idea . The spare tyre with its extra weight does contribute a bit of
high FC .

Heanseng
Your high FC is very subjective . It might depend on yr pattern of
driving , traffic condition , road condition(especially hilly) , workload
on yr engine(air con , ICE , weights...etc..).......

Exchien
The Catalytic converter(CAT) works as an filter to filter up those
combusted harmful exhaust gas . It`s situated either at the exhaust pipe
mid section or for Optra`s case its just located next to the extractor .
The CAT is just an environmental freely thing but at a price that we have
to pay that is higher FC and lower horsepower .

Anyway , the high performance drop in air element is a strongly
recommended item for improving HP and FC and yet it won`t void yr
warranty . In Klang Valley , most of the Auto Shops do sell this item .
Pls look for those brand name like (K&N , Pipercross...etc...) they`re
highly effective but a bit expensive .

For me those fuel saving devices I tried many, none work.

Fully syn oil works better than normal oils. I use Castrol RS (top up RM75
instead of using Magnatec), can get at your SC.

When accelerating don't be too foot heavy lah. Increase sikit-sikit to
open your throttle fully.

Seriously, if the methods below did save fc and increase hp, I will do
that without any hestitation.

4. get rid of the catalytic converter
5. get a high performance drop in air element

For your case , no. 4 & 5 , might not satisfy your hunger for low FC . I
think you better stick to those 8 valves ,SOHC car better with i-DSI .

My average FC is 0.1 per km (current mileage ~10K). 70% city driving so I
guess it is pretty good. Can get much better on long distance. At 1st the
FC is quite high (0.13-0.14) but gradually improve after few K.

Optra FC in city is quite high but quite good at highway. A few days ago I
pump full tank RM68 in Penang and manage to travel to JB without refueling
with half tank left. I pump full tank in JB again at RM60 only.

Distance: 660KM
Average Speed: 120-130KM/h
Petrol use: RM60 or 42.25 litre
Consumption: RM9/100KM or 6.4litre/100KM

Normally one full tank (around RM68) will let me travel around 460-500KM in
KL. So I was quite surprise with Optra highway consumption.
