Hi bmiph,

I understand you have changed to new front & back tyres. If you don't mind
may I know what is the brand, tyre size (front/back)and how much? I am
interested in changing mine also. Currently I am using 90/80 front & 130/90
back which are not the standard type according to the manual & which should
be 100/90 front & 140/90 back.

Thanks Smile

Hi Speed3,
Both front is Bridgestone Exedra. Total cost is RM490. Front tyre is
G527 100/90-17M/C. Rated 55S. Rear is G524, 140/90-15M/C. Rated 70S.
Bridgestone & Dunlop are the original recommended tyres.

Another cheaper alternative for the rear tyre is Duro. I heard the
front have many other alternatives.

Expensive tyres......that's why I said in another forum that Uni
students now using EL250!!! Expensive choice......

Hi Speed3,
No sweat. But I heard the same set of tyres can be obtain for RM450. I
did not bargain as I needed to keep the tauke happy, to repair my bike
should there be any problem, as he is the best mechanic around.Blackeye

Another shop offered me alternative Taiwan tyres, front forgot what brand
oledi, but back is Duro....total RM350.......but I think I will stick to
Bridgestone or Dunlop, my life depends on these two tyres....dun play
play....

Anyway, I was also enquiring about alloy rims....anyone out there use it
before,... how much?? I was thinking of using tubeless tyres......

For the same size, alloy rim for the front is easier to find (while back,
found used from suzuki bike - cost rm750). But the rear one is more
difficult to find because of the integrated drum brake. anyway update
here, if u got any news

I am an owner of this EL250 machine since 1996. Now it has clocked
97,000km. I think the last model came out in 1997. Therefore if you found
a unit, you got to make sure it was well maintained. Due to the age, if
the valves, radiator thermostat and cylinder block gasket haven't been
replaced, overheating will surely be a problem. Also make sure the front
and rear sprocket size is the standard size (not smaller or bigger).
Different sprocket size from the standard will constrain the engine and
may also cause overheating since the body is quite heavy relative to the
engine and gear ratio. Just post any question if you need more info.
