quote from alantieng

Proton Gearbox don't need Rm20K lahh, usually a recondition gearbox cost
only RM1800 without installation....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

when you claim warranty, you want proton to give you a new gearbox or
reconditioned one??

i would go for new one. if it costs Proton 20K, i dont care. thats what
they promised me, to the extend of displaying 5 years warranty at the
number plate holder.

anyway, if its true that the 3 years warranty extension is covered by
insurance, who is paying them? and where is the agreement copy for
persona owners?

From proton edar website, it mentioned :

"This new car includes our extended warranty package, which provides
warranty support + coverage for up to five years."

The word 'our' may mean that this extended warranty only offered by
proton edar. I cant find any info on EON website.

this link is from proton edar website.

Hi,

If I heard it right, warranty period for all parts is only 2 years/50k
whichever comes first.

While the "5 years warranty" covers only for the anti-rust protection on
some parts of the car. Check your manual book for more info.

encik kasut, thank you for doing some good homework.

we must copy that web page and ready to sue proton in court for
misleading info if they refuse to honour our warranty claims.

from what i understand, the warranty is extended up to 5 years, by proton.

*note : Proton edar is a subsidiary of Proton now while EON is only
dealer, having a super dealer status with its huge network

Regarding the 5 yrs warranty, I think we Persona buyers have been taken for
a ride by the sales persons as well as Proton. Part of the reasons many of us
bought Persona is because of the 5 yrs warranty. At the moment there is
nothing in black and white to show that it has a 5 yrs warranty. Have we
been short changed??? Shock

Hi Spongebob, congrats, you are one of the lucky Personians to receive your
extended 5 yrs warranty from Proton. I believe most owners are not so lucky.
Is it possible for you to show us a copy of the extended warranty certificate.
Btwwhen did you receive it and did you pay any extra money to the Insurance
company ?
I guess you bought your Persona in April 2008 and managed to
get your extended policy within 5 months. Wah, you r very lucky. Many
Personians are still in the dark.Shock
