Dear friends and Frustrated 3008 owners,

I am one of the frustrated 3008 owners. In March 2014, I had the "Engine Fault - Repair Needed", and sent the car to Balakong SC. The car was in for 18 days. They did a top overhaul. Imagine for a 2 year old car to go for top overhaul. The car was under warranty and they did everything for free, but now 8 months later,

"Engine Fault Repair Needed" again. This time when I shut down the Cooling Fan Runs for very long and at high speed. Battery is draining. Called the Sc, they asked to bring the car in. I fear that it will be in the SC for another 3 weeks.

Anyone got any idea what is wrong with all this 3008?

Need to mention here that this is my 3rd battery, and it costs RM 530.00 to change the battery. Ngam Ngam 12 months and 1 day, the battery will kaput. This must be a high technology battery that knows to die just after warranty.

More worrying is the Engine Fault Repair Needed. Without a car I am having to ask my wife to send me to work, "tumpang" people on the way home, ... don't know until when this is going to go on.

its standard procedure for the battery to last less than 12 months. i already changed 5 batteries on my 5 year old car.

Not a Pug owner, but want to ask whether if you can get aftermarket battery for your ride?
The batteries I use (normal N series) last at least 18 to 24 months.

Plenty. It is just a DIN55L, maintenance free battery. Tyre shops and AAM are selling at about RM280. Including the RM20 bucks tips I gave it is only RM300. It is not a special battery. RM530 is a cut throat price.

The Ford Focus and Pug 308 uses the same size battery. DIN 55 is the model and L means the terminals are on the left side. Remember this number. It will save you money.

Thanks for the info, just that I always hear many complaints of the battery price from Pug SC, and they holding the owner with the high price mentioning voiding warranty if changed outside? smile_blackeye.gif Therefore if after warranty should change outside..... smile_wink.gif

My N70 series battery cost around RM200 only.... smile_tongue.gif

Battery is one problem,

I actually had had Engine Overheating Warning Light in Mar 14, sent to SC and got some parts (sensors) changed.

In May 14 I had Engine Fault Repair Needed. This time it was in the SC for 18 days and they did top overhaul. The list of parts was 4 pages long. Everything done under warranty. No payment needed. I think Peugeot (Nasim Motors) is going to bankrupt if they go on like this.

Now in Oct 14 again Engine Fault Repair Needed. This time the radiator fan runs at high speed after shut down. I am afraid the battery is going to kaput. Going to send to Sc this Saturday.

We cannot tahan and have gone and bought a small car just to have a ride available. This 3008, is going to keep on giving trouble, but the trade in price is "You will cry if I tell you". Loan amount is still way over the amount I can get if I sell. Not only that, I don't think any dealer will take this car. Warranty is for 5 years, means that I have to keep repairing it and using it sparingly. Anyone got any advice?

Do yourself a favour, cut loss and bail out. Don't be a slave. This way you only lose money. Continue to keep the car and you will also lose your sanity. Spend the time with your family and not waste it in the service centres.

The prob sounds like the turbo coolant pump needs to be replaced. If it's still under warranty it will be FOC. Probably a day's job. It's a turbo engine, so the wear and tear will be higher.

As for the first problem, as chargerguy mentioned in the post before your first post, all DI engines will have carbon build up. The only way to avoid a (costly) top overhaul is to decarbo, but to date the only person capable of doing it properly especially on the quirky Prince engine, is chargerguy. PM him for details. BTW as a disclaimer I am his happy customer. Did my 308 at 35k km and to date it's still purring.

My only issue is the battery dies too quickly. Good luck!
