QUOTE (dylan86 @ Mar 10 2013, 10:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think its still CBU, mine will be 3 years old this year with 86k km done. Just changed the tyres last month to Bridgestone GR-90.

Dylan86, I'm interested in getting this car to be used as our main car. I intend to use this car for 10-15years. So, my main concerns are:
1) reliability
2) maintenance
3) fuel consumption (city: km/l? as I'll b using it in city 90%)
4) interior build (any knocking or tok-tok sounds after 3 years)
5) spare part availability

I'm staying in Penang mainland and wondering which service centre is better, BM or Butterworth? Thx.

Hey arcarius,

Hope you decided on your ride already, Sorry for the late reply as I hardly login here, anyway I shall reply for the benefit of others as well.

1) Reliability - So far no Major faults and so far the car been serviced by Suzuki SC
2) Maintenance - Is definitely on the higher side if you compare to servicing Toyota or Honda outside; but if you're doing it at SC then Suzuki service is still comparatively cheaper especially on the labour rate

3) Fuel consumption (the best I got is 13.5 km/l 80% H/way 20% City, if full City so far I am getting between 11.8km/l to 12.5 km/l)

4) As for interior build quality, there are some sounds and the plastics used for this car is definitely not of the highest grade.

5) As I live in KL, spare part availability is not much of an issue, I try to source for the parts outside and sometimes from ebay. This was already part of my consideration, as this model is not very popular here.

Sold off my SX4 after less than 3 years. Overall, it is a good car with only a few minor problems. The only downside is the support from SM. This is the main reason of me deciding to sell it off before the car started to give problem.

1) after about 1 year with the car, the rubber surrounding the drivers' window came off a little bit. the service center certified that it was due to manufacturing defect and thus submitted a warranty claim for me. It took more than 1 month for SM to process the claim and they queried the service center with lengthy questions pertaining to the warranty claim submitted (the service center showed me the email correspondences). After all the explanations done for approx 1 week plus, finally SM submitted the warranty claim to their JP HQ. It took their JP HQ 3 weeks to ship the part over to Msia for me as SM doesn't keep stock. The whole process took 2.5 months just to replace the rubber surrounding the drivers' window.

2) after about 2 year with the car, there are 2 minor defects claim submitted by the service center for me. In the midst of waiting for the parts to come, the service center that submitted the defects claim for me closed down their business. I was not being updated with the status of my claim. Went to another service center to do my routine car service. Brought this matter up to the service center. The service center told me that defects claim on a particular item can only be submitted once but not 2 times or more. They advised me to contact SM directly to enquire on the status of my claim. Contacted SM as advised by the service center. SM took down my enquiries and told me that they will check, investigate and revert to me on the status of my defects claim in due course. Waited for day after another, month after another, there was no phone call from SM at all until the day I sold off my SX4 after 6 months after I filed my enquiries with SM.

3) in between, there are also a few minor problems here and there. I wanted to make defects claim since my car was still under warranty. But the service center refused to claim for me saying that such minor problems would not be entertained by SM, thus better to save the trouble submitting the claims.

I am really disappointed with the support rendered by SM to Suzuki car owners. Sigh.
