QUOTE (lelynx @ Apr 14 2014, 02:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
all new cars are without this auto-lock (due to regulation)
even those expensive one like bimmer and merc; i meant locally assembled one

I think the luxury models have the electronics set up to unlock the car on impact. So i know for a fact the BMW (328) has the autolock function. But i guess the Honda's and Toyota's cannot afford to put this feature in and also do not give us an option as well. That is the shitty part. They should provide it as an option for the customer who is willing to pay and not void the warranty.

Hi,

I know this is an old thread. i just recently bought the 2016 Honda Jazz. To my surprise, the autolock function is not available. When I queried the salesperson, they mentioned that Honda cars does not come with the autolock function.

HOWEVER, looking at the vehicle manual and research online, there are several scenarios which you can programmed this manually by yourself ie Locked when reached 15km/hr/locked when switch change gear from P etc.

I am not too sure on the Govt regulations 2012 etc, have anyone ever tried the manual settings? Not sure whether it is available in our model.

Appreciate the sharing. TQ

It depends on what alarm system the jazz comes with. If the function is not there then cannot set at all.....

Thank you vrturbo for the insights.

Mine is the standard Jazz 2016 models. Is the function available in our models or it has been "deactivated" due to government regulations 2012 as per the previous postings?

Hi,

Just to provide an update. Went to the SC for the 1K inspection. I asked the SC and he mentioned that both Jazz and City model in Malaysia do not have the autolock function. Instead, you can install an equipment for about RM100+ . He said that although the autolock function is stated in the manual, the functionality is not available for Malaysia model.

The device is not that expensive. It is RM 60-70. You can check it online (website such as mudah). They call it OBD lock or autolock.

It is a small device plugged into the OBD port (car's ecu) below the driver's steering column. It is plug & play and if you don't like it , then remove it from the port. No modification.

OBD port is where the car's diagnostic device plugged into it to communicate with your car's ecu. It is just like plugging in USB device.

Hi mot88,

Thank you for the info. Quite interesting workaround as the OBD will not involve physical modification to the car. Can i confirm that by using the OBD it doesn't void the car's warranty?

Thanks.
