Hi bro.Newkelisa,

Please update us after your visit , perhaps with indication on pricing
and package too.

I am thinking of changing to PAG oil since I notice the compressor are
slightly noisier now and don`t preferred to do a full service which
includes of cleaning the Internal condensor ... Any advice.

The contaminated PAG oil flushed out from my compressor look like the
cooking oil with an instance smell, my aircon system was flushed at 43K,
that how the PAG oils get a yellowish color. Its took over 2 hours to
complete the flushing, vacuums and recharged the aircon systems with PAG
46. There was no leak detected in my aircon, so, no part was changed
during the services. After the aircon system been flushed and recharged,
the cooling effect is great if not better when it’s new and the compressor
kick-in noise is gone, my aircon is superb cool and quite now.

For your info, old oil flushed out from the compressor may not nessesary
be PAG oil, as 80% of the after market aircon shops don't use or don't
know what PAG oil is, unless your car aircon has never been service
outside since out of factory, then it's PAG oil most likely.
Cooking oil like color is not that bad, I have seen flushed out oil with
greenish fungus like color with bubbles, and mild kopi-o color with
residue before. yuck! I have also seen 360 ml of old oil been flushed out
where the car compressor requires only 200 ml of compressor oil. WTF!

I've read about the hydrocarbon (HC) refrigerant, but too bad it's
flammable, especially in our hot tropical climate. My aircond man claimed
they once tried it, and there was a small explosion due to a worker taking
a smoking break nearby! They immediately decided to stop using it, even
though this HC refrigerant needs much less volume to obtain the same
coolness and therefore creates less compressor load, compared to R134a...

Anyone knows whether those small tubes of refrigerant + oil bottles, which
are commonly seen in car aircond workshops, contain PAG oil or just normal
engine oil? You know, those from NASA, etc.

Also came across this interesting Cryoseal self-sealing refrigerant:

Yes, my aircon never done any services before, every 15,000Km I feed in a
new cabin filter and that was all, the R134a and PAG was from the factory.

Step3382, you can contact Mr.Ng at 012-3087890 for the aircon services.

Those small tube or can type oil + refrigerant are available in the
market in a number of brands, they are usually made in one grade only
which is PAG 46, so they are not meant for all makes of car. And the
content is usually 20-40 gram of oil, the rest is gas. so it's good for
topping up purpose only. NASA? If you use any of their product, God bless
you.
There are also some sealing and stop leak kind of additives in charging
can, but it works only on small tiny leak but refrigerant has to be dry
to be effective. It may be good for preventive purpose but most aircon
shops don't like to sell them.

anyone heard of New Century Cooling in SS2? Each time i pass there, a lot
of Merc, Beemers, Porsche cars all service their aircond there. Seems like
an old shop, but i guess they are one of those dedicated AC shops around.

hi mubull,

i think the price doesn't include physical removal of the evaporator. if
your system is not leaking and working find, just do a flushing and
recharge with proper gas and PAG. for denso i think using ND?? PAG oil.
you can go to denso to get a bottle if you like.

the guy is using imported PAG oil from canada which he said very
expensive. a typical compressor need about 130-150ml of PAG and that
alone will cost RM130-150 if using his fully-syn PAG.

flushing and recharge will be about RM250, i think. no need to remove
the component as that will do more harm that good. those using chemical
to wash your aluminium evaporator will 'ensure' you to came back sooner.

leave it and use until the component leaks. you can ask him to use
compress air just to blow out dust if you like.

hope you got the picture...
