hi mitsu4318,

hope u can help. my questions are?

1. With yr method, there is no need to take off the return hose eh?
It is just suck out old fluid fr reservoir - topup new fluid - start
engine & turn L/R for several times - Off engine - suck again the fulid &
do it again (and agin)until the fluid colour ALMOST same with the new
fluid & finally top until Max level.

2. Is Petronas ATF D or ATF D3 suitable for our waja?

(Mymesra :Applications ATF D = Recommended for use in all automatic
transmissions, power steering and other hydraulic systems for which a
Dexron II or Allison C-4 type fluid is specified. It is also suitable for
use in ascrew compressor applications requiring an ATF fluidof ATF D3
Applications

(Mymesra : Application ATF D3 = Recommended for use in all automatic
transmissions, power steering and other hydraulic systems for which a
Dexron III or Allison C-4 type fluids are specified. It is also suitable
for use in hydrostatic drives and industrial, agricultural, mining and
marine hydraulics systemssiutable for our waja

nenaslimau,

drain..

Saya hanya guna cecair hidrolik Castrol TQ-D equiv. to dexron II, yang
itu saja cecair hidrolik yang saya tahu hehehe.. kereta2 lama saya pun
semua guna yang jenis ini saja... dalam manual Waja recommeded dexronII

Ahad lepas, berpeluang melaksanakan 'kerja buat sendiri' penukaran minyak
stering kuasa mengikut langkah2 yang telah disyorkan oleh mitsu4g18.

Guna minyak Petronas ATF DIII sebanyak 2 liter. Berjaya besilih tukar
minyak dalam penakung sebanyak 5 kali. Dari warna gelap kepada anggaran
85% menyamai warna asal minyak (merah cair).

Hasil : Anggran 50% penurunan kadar seretan stering dan puas hati dgn
usaha dan kos yang dikeluarkan.

Kos terlibat :

Petronas ATF DIII = RM32.00 (RM16 x 2 liter)
Pam : RM4.50

Memang betul, mula2 saya terkejut juga.. dulu saya ingat stering tu rasa
berat sebab di tuned oleh lotus... rupa2 nya di tuned oleh minyak kotor
rupanya..

thanx mitsu,
really want to try flushing out my PW steering reservoir but have a
question for you first. wouldn't it be advisable to suck out existing
fluid in reservoir first before sticking finger in to remove filter in
order to minimise chance of dirt/old fluid getting into the system. why do
you recommend taking out filter first before sucking out old fluid?

Because the pump siphon is too large to go thru the filter, well, if you
can get any other smaller pumps.. probably a hand spray would be much
more better... mine is robust multi-purpose pump that can suck high
viscosity oil & fluid (minyak likat) easily..

For all kaki DIY, or non kaki DID who wants to try..

1. Stick up your finger in the PW reservoir filter unit and turn left

2. Remove the filter unit, just like plugging your household socket bulb

3. Use the high power sucking pump, and suck the oil into a transparent
container.

tips,

1.Make sure before topping up during flushing always install back the
filter just to avoid any dirt going into the system..

2.After topping up make sure start the engine for 1 or 2 minutes, for the
pump to circulate the new fuild.. the pw pump powerful you can see the
fliud swirling inside the reservior..and sure nothing is hanging or
blocking near engine prior starting the engine..

3.The fuild capacity is around 0.8litre (in the manual), 3 to 4 times
flushing should be adequate...

4.Don't forget to put back the pw filter..and wash with water any fuild
spillage..

5.Use fluid recommended by manufacture i.a.w with maintenence manual or
equivelent dexron II fluid...

Caution! extra safety precaution should be adhered when handling running
engine.. any mishap arises in the course of exercuting it shall not be
the responsiblity of the author....

Can anyone Upload pic step by step please. Im a noob. Heee
