goreng,

don`t be fooled by the high IRR ratings by some of the other tint
companies. They tell you some figure in the 90%+ but they never tell you at
which light frequency range! the important thing is the light frequency..if
they can give you a high 90% IRR during morning light and a low one during
mid afternoon sun you still will get a hot car. I have checked out the
Llumar tint and 72% is the average across the light frequency meaning that
you do get better protection from heat and sun light across the day. This
is far better than just a claim of high IRR at one point in the day and low
IRR at other times of the day.
If they can really claim 90%+ IRR, you would not need to turn on the air cond.

how much would it roughly cost for a new civic.. all windows incl front?
Might do it if its reasonably cheaper than vkool offered by honda since
specs about the same.

hi goreng & buddyclub

what you guys are saying about IRR etc are somewhat half the story
created by one "tint or cool" guy in the market over the years.

As buddyclub observed correctly, if IRR really means "heat rejection"
then those guys claiming 90%+ IRR would not have to use their car air
conds - good point.

The proper term for determining the heat performance/rejection of a
particular film is the Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER), this is
measured by a US$250k machine using a set formula determined by the
window film industry body i.e. (ASTM, ASHRAE and AIMCAL). Having said
this, some local players are already "playing" on this TSER figure now.
So no wonder the average consumer is confused !

I'll just like to say that quality window films are a very high tech
product but can be learnt and understand relatively easily so that
incorrectly used terms like IRR will never haunt you ever again !

So, how do you know whether you are given the proper performance data of
a film product? Simple - ASK TO SEE THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER'S PRODUCT
DATA WITH FILM SAMPLES !!! You guys are smart enough to know whether the
marketing materials you see are produced locally or comes direct from the
manufacturer.

In closing, I'm not sure myself where the heck you guys got this IRR 72%
for our LLumar films. We've never used IRR incorrectly.

Catch you guys around !

Chris

hi nidunalza,

your civic is a normal sedan size vehicle, our LLumar Automotive Film
packages starts from RM800 up to RM2200 depending on which type of film
you select to suit your lifestyle.

If you hardly drive your car in the day time then why spend money on the
top range ? I rather understand how you use your car and recommend a
solution that meets your needs and not cost you an arm or a leg.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi ChrisLiew, I understand that one of the series is called AIR75. Is that
the middle range tint? What is the price range for a sedan car to be fully
tinted with AIR75? Thanks.

Hi goreng,

You are correct, one of our series includes the AIR75 and is in fact
among our top range of Automotive Films on offer for our Malaysian market.

For sedan cars prices are from RM1800 to RM2000 for full vehicle
installation.

Drop me a line when free on 019 323 0011.

Cheers,

Chris

Have any of you guys tried sitting in a car at night with your windows all
wound up, without air cond? Can meh? For how long? So what if total heat
rejection is high, heat still emanates in from the roof, engine bay etc.
Not forgetting the front screen and rear screen, they are the major
contributors of in-car warming since they have larger areas than the side
windows AND angled at 30-40 degrees.

So UNLESS you have some major advancement in tinting for your front
screen, which by the way is so tough since regulation only allows min 70%
VLT, I'd say even if you paint your side windows black, you'd STILL have
to turn your air-cond on regardless.

IMHO, this LLumar guy is so unprofessional. I went to see him to enquire
about tints, and below are excerpts from our conversation, albeit not word-
for-word.

Me: "If compared to V-Kool Elite, how does your tint fare?"

Llumar Guy (LG): "Llumar comes from the only other factory in the world (V-
Kool being the other) that makes metallised tint films..... But the major
difference between us and V-Kool is the installation process. Those other
tint shops use shampoo to install the tint, while we use specialised
fluid. That's why you may get bubbles if you go to most other tint shops"

In other words, most tint shops in town cannot compare with them. Wow,
what a great sweeping statement. Wonder how V-Kool and other branded film
installers feel about this.

LG: "After a while, all those V-Kool tints will start to peel cos of lousy
installation and because of oxidation of the metallised tint film."

Me: "But don't they carry 5-yr warranties on their products?"

LG: "You don't believe me you go and install V-Kool la......"

Me: (Thought to myself) Wah, why this guy tok like dat one?

Me: "I got fed up with my front tint cos of light diffraction, so I
changed it to Kristal Bond....." At this point he shook his head and gave
a disapproving look, as if I had made a major mistake. The nerve. It's
like saying, we're the best in the world. Everything else is crap, even V-
Kool cos the installers are crap.

LG: "I can do your whole car for you for RM2xxx.00. Sorry, I don't do half-
assed jobs, so don't even bother to ask for a breakdown for just the side
windows etc. Ultimately it is you who will sit in the car and frankly, I'm
not concerned if you took the offer or not. You can think about it and
call me when you're ready, hopefully I still have time for you...."

Me: "Well, good luck to you, you're gonna need it..."

The End.
