Hi all, smile_cool.gif

Just took my SF yesterday.

What i like:
1. power good (but must put the tunning-next plan)
2. the NAPPA leather very comfortable
3. diesel clatter sound very minimum compare to my previous ride (diesel oso) Ssangyong
4. meter cluster color, blueish... cool!

What i dont like:
1. the warning beep sound (about 5 secs) when you get off the car (engine still on)
2. multi control on stering wheel... have to get used of it... hard to feel the button
3. thats all for now

I have seat rattling noise too... but i just ignore it (just on the radio)
I have a little bit water vapor in my head lamp too. will complaint next. claim waranty.
I have tyre over pressure too.
I checked the sunroof ledge. no sign of leak.
My ESP lights so far so good.
I have door autolock when drive the car reach certain speed. Maybe they set already.

Do you guys have to set your own gps? insert the memory card given? will ask them to do it for me. not the Salesguy but
to the service centre.

Touchwood, i enjoy driving sf. order McD drive thru no need to shout oredi.

Good to hear u like your SF. Autolock is set at 25km/h. Nappa leather really smooth and comfortable but I don't like the brown color. Looks like the seat rattling noise is a permanent feature of Santa Fe. In Korea where Santa Fe is probably the 2nd most common car on the road after the Sonata, the Santa Fe there has no car seat noise. I suspect it's cos HSD and APM took out the car frame, put in Nappa leather and install back the seat and during the process somehow, somewhere someone screwed up the job big time and like most things in Malaysia, semua OK when it is not OK. You may want to check your radio/DVD (USB drive) player. If your USB drive is quiet full (lots of data/song in there), there is tendency of radio switching to USB mode and vice versa, especially when while driving, you switch off and then on the radio. Donno why but every time I asked HSD to check, they always failed to check either cos of they forgot or the vendor's people is not at their service centre, which again showed how caring and attentive the service staff is. Another minor problem is even without the loaded USD drive, the USB mode will switch to radio mode for a few seconds and then back to USB mode by itself. Very magical. I asked SC to check a few times and each time they came back with no problem but I always wonder if no problem why this problem comes occasionally.Your built in GPS is Papago or something else? 2 months ago when I checked, HSD was looking into replacing Papago. So far Papago has never failed to make me vomit blood every time I used it.

Yes, Santa Fe is quite enjoyable to drive. It would be better if Hyundai can look into some of the problems of Santa Fe. Santa Fe is a good SUV but certainly not 1st class material.

Hi,

Yes i agree with you about the brown NAPPA leather. I prefer black color too.
But dark brown oso sumthing new for me (exiting), maybe bored oredi all this while always black leather.

About the head unit i am still learning the function.

I am thinking of roof monitor but no space due to sunroof. Anybody got any idea how to solve this problem.
My children are fighting each other for space to see the small monitor at front one. Maybe can buy the portable
one and can share the bluetooth with HU.
Sunroof is one of the spec that i dislike to have. But what to do all premium have it.

Cheers guys!

I am not a car technician. I am also not a engineer. After no less than 15 visits and numerous days of leaving my car at the service centre for fixing the car seat noise, I cannot help but feel Hyundai does not care about its car quality and don't give a damn after the car is sold. How could I not condemn Hyundai when after no less than 15 times, I get the same shit from them. I would prefer HSD be honest with me saying problem not solved need more time and take effort to fix the car seat noise. But all I got was the same "everything OK" but the moment I drove my car out of the service centre, the car seat rattles and gave out noise on uneven road. It showed the level of honesty and integrity of Hyundai.

I am in a profession where honesty and integrity are very important, so I hate liars and that's the kind of people I am dealing with HSD. And I have this encounters with two despicable sneaky managers, one from an authorised agent (hijacked my car) and one from the HSD (accused me of agreeing all noise problems solved).

I am not aware of soundproof specialist. I will propose that to Hyundai Service that they should consider such professional. Also why didn't Hyundai engage such specialist in the first place?

Hi hongkie,

If 1 rattling problem would make you condemn the ride, then the only rides that you could really go for would be German conti Volkswagen and above. These rides confirmed won't have rattling issue as it is part of their strict regulation #1.

A mechanic, technician or foreman took 3 years to complete their MLVK + Diploma + on job training with starting salary RM1,000/-. Even with Master Degree from overseas could land them with low labour pay job. Annual increment in tiny bits.

A permanent Marketing or Sales staff (absorbed Salesman) with SPM qualification or just simple 1-2 years Diploma would get starting pay RM2k min and could easily go up way above RM10k-20k.

Despite all these, whatever brands SC you see, the top management that controls the budget and funding are from non-technical site. So, can't blame technical department entirely. If you wanted to look for fight, go shout at those dumb management. Whatever those technical team tells you, they have no choice but to follow order. Technical could only helps you keep the vehicle running, not solving noise issue. Problem here is you could try to force them to sponsor soundproof fees.

Already confirmed the irritating rattling noise from the contact between 2 metal latches that lock the seats in place. I have wrapped 1 part with soundproof material I picked up from Soundproof shop's disposal bin, I don't hear the sound anymore. My handiwork a bit rough but won't see it since it's under the seat.

I think among the low priced diesel SUV they seems to be the best in performance and reliability? except their 2nd gen design but their 3rd gen is much better.

3rd gen SF seems to sacrifice a bit the 3rd row seats... might be a little bit cramp due to aerodinamic shape.
anyway see how it coming to here.
i oso waiting for it too.

Hongkie,

When did you get your car? Does your car come with Autolock? or you asked the service center to set it after purchasing ur car?

Mine is march 2011, and it doesn't come with auto-lock. 80% of the time, I forget to lock it. I still dont get use to lock the car by myself when im driving the car. used to drive an auto lock car.
