Myvi Use Timing Chain!

If the belt/chain breaks and the piston hantam the valve train, the most
likely cause of action would be to replace valve stems and other damage
parts like Piston, but in all likelihood, most lkely a rebore engine also
cannot because it happen to my dad's old 728i before, the whole engine kena
throw because the scrapnels/serpihan besi from the valve has *scatched* the
entire bore of the engine so there is no way it can be repaired ...

Nowadays modern engines like DVVT or VVTi use bore jacket. If the inner
bore surface happen to be scratched, just change the bore jacket, no need
to change the whole engine block.

You means...the bore jacket is the liner that can be replaced!If that
so...its would save alot of money and hassle to look for another engine.

Yeah, some sort like a metal cylinder that fitted in the engine block. In
this case, the piston is in contact with this cylinder and not the engine
block.

timing belt or chain no big deal ler, some cars are using timing gear,
more durable

Yes timing gear are more durable thus has more moving parts and increase
the engine weight also.But not easily availabe in msia, maybe on heavy
machineries(high speed generator 250KW above) and some antic cars.Timing
gears are do have back lash(clearance between the gear teeth),if your
lubrication is poor or lazy to change oil,the clearance will increase on
years to come thus you will experince lower engine performance and noisy
gearing.
You can still see on the road..Toyota Corolla,Datsun 120Y...these cars are
using timing chain...hell of along years of service.If,with timing chain
you are troble free for at least 10 years..should be good enough as very
rare you find people that using their cars for more than 30 years.

but as i can see the myvi is using Self Ajustable not the Auto
Ajustable. which mean its cant strecth it self to suit the lenght after
some times when it start to get lossen.
for the Auto Ajustable ones its got a so called "Absorber" which can
strecth automatically. while for the Self Ajustable we got to see when
there is an alternative to ajust it conviniently. hopefully it for a hole
for the casing which enables to ajust it easily or else have to open uf
the whole thing :)

simple lor by the time the chain loosens, it means its time to change
the timing chain plus recalibarate the ECU lor ...
timing chain quite lasting ...
