If the engine is the same as Suzuki's, may be the rest of the package is
from other reliable sources also.
Like, suspension from Showa, brake from Nissin or Tokico, carbs from
Mikuni or Keihin..etc, then we don't have to worry much about reliability.

Any one can confirm the engine really the same as Suzuki's? It may looks
similar, but the internals can be a totally different.

Naza got it spot on. Blade 650 is making a lot of people drool!

The engine is not the same as Suzuki, albeit the entire bike is almost a
clone of the previous Suzuki SV650. While the Suzie uses aluminium alloy
chassis, the Blade is using the lo tech steel and this contribute to
almost 30 kg more weight than suzie.

I thought it would have been cheaper given that its Korean/Naza setup and
Naza is not paying the custom or excise. At $26k, I would have to think
twice. I think I will hunt for the 2nd hand Dragstar 650. I remember Hong
Leong pricing the Dragstar650 at about the same price as blade few years
ago when it was launch. Considered that its the latest tech(WW release was
a year earlier) and being Yamaha at $25k+, it was a bargain. I think Naza
margin on the blade 650 is very high. How can they sell the Naza Ria at
less than $100k and $26k for the bike????

Realistically, I would give no more than $18k for this bike.

Long time no hear, Magna.

Re the pricing, I hear that the RM26K (actually, a shade under 26K) is for
the fully imported package. Naza is going to locally assemble the 650 here
and I understand it'll be about RM19K. I read in an Australian review that
it's going for AUD8700 (about RM23K) for the Comet 650. So, you now know
that Rafidah, er I mean, NAZA is making good use of the tax advantage.

While I drool over the 650, I'm wondering if the bike is too high for me.
What do you think Magna, since you're also short like me.

Aiseh! Barry you don't have to leak info that we all short la!!!! LOL!!!

I know exactly what you mean about the tax...

$19K is still tad too high. If fully imported at $26K, then my early
expectation should be revise. It should goes as low as $15.

Usually all these bigger bike surprisingly have lower seat height. For
example, I can ride the CBR or FZR600 with no issues. Even my college day
MagnaVF700C was ok(cruiser though). Most sportbikes have reasonable low
seat height for CG purpose, bar those open class 1liter.

i still remember the price of Honda Shadow 600 is nearly 17k when launched
circa 1997 before DSAI jacked the tax. At that time too Kawa ZXR250 is
around 16k. So the CKD price for the Blade must be lower due to 'branding'
factor... Naza (Hyosung) vs. Honda vs. Kawa.... nahhhh!

Looks can be deceiving.

Nitro/Comel Manja's 125 engine and fairing etc looks exactly the same as Honda's Wave.

OK... so the price for blade 650 very enticing.... but still wondering
about the reliability, though I don't really expect Japs reliability but
at least something like the Italian. Anything lesser than that should
really consider before commiting. Anyone knows feedback on hyosung
products in overseas- at UK for example?I know they import their
bikes/scooter there.

Hyosung original Comet GT 650 was reviewed in the July issue of
Performance Bike.

The engine is Hyosung own in-house design. It may resemble the Suzuki SV
650 but is totally different- not a peach like the SV, the tester words.

It uses carbs instead of injectors. Has quite tall gearing with an
estimated top speed of 130mph.

Just got the quotation this morning. It cost RM25407.50 on the road
inclusive of insurance.
A machine manufactured in Korea, clearly 'inspired' by an existing
successful model from japan and exported at a budget price- Roland Brown
in UK's TWO mag. june 2004.

Dont take Blade 250. Those metal frames and welding are prone to rusty.
Just checking one blade250 used for testing. All welding parts are rusty.
On the frames, some chiping paints off and leave some rust on it. Better
be careful.

For 650, it must be better. Brakes are ok but not for exchanging gears.
Sticky ( maybe it was still new ).
