Hi all. This is my first post here! Hope I can ask this question here about new camry vs new accord vs lexus GS300 2010?
I want to buy a D segment car (uncle already with growing kids). I prefer Japanese made car for reliability and comfort rather than a European one or Korean one.
I think the Camry vs Accord is a common comparison. But what about a second hand or recond Lexus GS300 which is similar price range? http://www.carlist.m...mp;page_size=24
Does anybody know the experience of owning a Lexus GS300 (2010)?
I am not looking for speed and performance. Just comfort as a passenger and driver for KL traffic driving as well as balik kampung driving. Important for me is comfort; not so noisy, good seats and back support, aircond, vibration.
What is your opinion?

Hi bumno,
Yup, I owned a Lexus GS300 (yr 2006) before. Just sold it off last month to trade in for a new Lexus ES250. Previously
I bought my GS300 recond from Mofaz (UK spec).
Before driving GS300, I drove Camry 2.4 & Toyota Harrier 2.4 (aka RX)
Difference? In one word: "HUGE!". A lot people tend to say Lexus is a "fortified Toyota". I can tell you: NOT 100%
true. Lexus is a brand in its own league. That's why after disposed off my GS300, I still bought another Lexus ES250
& I have another 2010 Lexus RX350 at home (this is recond unit though).
Owning experience of GS300 is generally pleasant with ease of maintenance. Imagine this: my GS300 year make
was 2006 (UK). Until the day I trade it in, it does not show any rattles inside. Such an excellent build quality.
The most wonderful thing about GS300 is its CREAMY SMOOTH V6 engine & extremely quiet ride - these are the
two things I still missed about my ex-GS300. Current generation of RX or ES cannot match. The newer generation
of Lexus vehicles are more tuned for some sportiness - not as quiet as before. Even the new GS demonstrates the
same characteristics & the designer put in some artificial engine sound generated from the speaker in order to
create a sense of sportiness. If you prefer quietness, the 2006-2009 generation of Lexus (IS/GS and of course
LS) are the one to go.
Down to the point: what makes Lexus such a quiet & smooth ride? I think those include: stiffer body with extra
welding, better insulation (they used 3M thinsulate instead of shoddy used in regular Toyotas), fluid-fill
engine mounts (aka. vibration-cancellation mountings) & acoustics windshields. The quietness & refinement
achieved by all these technologies cannot be done simply by purchasing a regular Toyota & send it
to some accessories shop to add some sound-proof materials - I learnt the lesson since my Camry.
You won't go too far wrong whenever you choose a Lexus.

Thanks limcw8067 - sorry for my late reply. I think your response is a very useful one for me to make my decision. I am looking for a car that is comfortable, and all that qualities you mentioned, and easy to maintain.
