Well, with NAP and all the sort of things in our country, who to blame?

if d car's engine is not
running, u kenot shift
from P to R w/o pressing
d shift lock button

if d car's engine is
running, then u can shift
from P to R w/o pressing
d shift lock button but
u hv to step on d brake
pedal
---------------

Not true. Please refer to page 75 of the Vios Owners Manual

sps i assume your driving vios and from what your said ' U sincerely
recommend me verify from UMW service centre if i can push the gear lever
of my car from P to R wihout depressing the shift lock.'

are you saying that every time u reverse your vios you have to press down
the shift lock? then i guess you are the one who need UMW service.. LOL

tpl, it is entirely up to you. I am done with the debate.

Vios is one of the cars I am currently having and the need to depress the
shift lock button to engage R from P, with the brake pedal depressed, is
there all the time since the car was delivered, and the same for the
Camry I had previously.

This is also consistent with what the owner's manual has clearly spelt
out.Smile

tpl,

Not trying to engage in any one-upmanship here. Just sharing what I know,
that's all. Please dont take any offence.

I am certain I am right because the car's transmission shifting is
functioning exactly according to what is stated in the manual, and I make
it a point to read and understand the manual each time I take delivery of
a particular car.

guys, especially sps
n tpl

i know where v r
heading here LOL Big Smile

there seems to b a
misunderstanding /
misinterpretation here

from wat sps mentioned:

***
Vios is one of the cars I am currently having and the need to depress the
shift lock button to engage R from P, with the brake pedal depressed, is
there all the time since the car was delivered, and the same for the
Camry I had previously.
***

i can sum dat he is
refering to d button
on d shifter as d `shift
lock button`

if so, then yes, u hv
to depress d button b4
u can shift from P to R

but wat tpl n I was
championing is d little
black button on on d
upper left of d shifter
base plate (hope u guys
can imagine dat) Big Smile

so, its a whole lot of
confusion here

hope d sky is clear now

p.s. i dun drive vios Tongue

btw, wats d API out there
