If you have not change your ATF Oil before, it`s recommended that you
change it BUT, before you change, ask the mechanic to CHECK if there`s
any problems first, before I`m not sure if changing any parts will
require you to change the ATF Oil.

jepakazoid have similar problem like you if I`m not wrong, he changed his
solenoid valve, but have some problem, so I ASSUME, his previous solenoid
valve was not from Borg Warner`s. As mentioned in the 1st post, when you
change your solenoid valve to Borg Warner`s you need to update your ECU,
else it will again possibly cause damage.

Kuching? Well, luckily there`s a 3S Peugeot SC there:
http://www.nazapeuge....html#peugeot3s

Grand One Automobile Sdn Bhd (3S Kuching)
Contact: 082-429303

I`m not sure ther contact no is correct, just copy from the site.

I would suggest you to print out the page from PeugeotLogic.com regarding
the AL4 Solenoid valve, it explains how to diagnose and fix your problem.
Suggest you share with the mechanic and insist he CHECK on it.

I would suggest you to print out the Citroen PDF file as well, pay
attention the Page 7-8 if you don`t want to read all. Read the topic:
"So how can you service (or tell your local mechanic how to) service the
automatic gearbox in your modern Citroën?" (Page 7- 8)
This topic will mentioned about the "Oil Wear Sensor", which is the Sport
and Snow mode indicator blinking.

If your ATF Oil have problem, I would suggest you to do a ATF Oil Flush
to completely remove it and replace with a NEW one. It`ll cost you more
tough...
Also, becareful when you do a full flush, check with the SC whether they
have the right equipment to do the job and make sure they do it correctly.

Just take note that, the fluid LEVEL and CLEANLINESS will also affect the
gearbox. It is mentioned in PeugeotLogic.com link I provided.

Oh ya, did "Automatic Gear Fault" showed on your console?

Also, since your car just clocked 30,00KM, would you care to share your
story on your car?
1. What year is your car model?
2. How long have you driven your car?
3. What`s the common traffic condition? Do you drive often on highways,
city or mixed?
4. Did you speed often (rev high) or use sports mode often? Or maybe you
can share your driving habit?
5. Did you expose your car to the sun a lot? (e.g. park under the sun)
6. Is your area close to sea/sea water?
7. Did you send your car for 10,000KM inspection and 20,000KM service?
8. Any other information you feel you can share to help other compare?

By the way, any members who have encountered AL4 problems before, hope
you can share your experience and how the problem is solve. Best if you
can list down what has occured,
e.g.
1. What did you do before you send it to the SC (e.g. did you continue to
drive/drive fast, how long did you ignore the problems)
2. What did the SC did? If they just did a reset and problems come back
after some time, how many time did they repeat it?
(Did the "Automatic Gearbox Fault" showed in the console?
3. How many KM did you car clock then? and how many years?
4. Any ATF Oil change before, etc?
5. Any other valuable/useful information?

Would really appreciate if you could share it.

Thanks a lot!

eddievh,

I`m terribly sorry if it does, but read this:
http://www.autoworld...m/allposts.asp?
summary=1&Forum=ap319603972&access=1&status=1&subject=AL4+Gearbox
Pug owners are already giving up and spreading the news and warning
people to stay away. Instead of "covering up", why not DO something???

Look far, it`s better than letting people buy and later suffer and
complains about the problems. If it were someone with power, they can
cause big problem. If it were a normal person, he/she would suffer, waste
money and lost confidence with Peugeot brand.

Also, by the way, it does NOT only happen for Peugeot gearbox, just that
the rate of failure for this AL4 gearbox is pretty high, particularly due
to our hot weather/tropical climate.

What I`m trying to do is just, letting people know the problem they may
encounter and the possible ways to prevent it.
If I were to buy a car, I would WANT to know what are the common
problems, and possible ways to prevent and also to fix it, and also the
cost.

Instead of being "ANGRY", he should do his best to fix the problem and
provide support, release news to customers how to fix the problem and if
they have this problem, their problem will be attended to seriously,
giving support and confidence to customer. It should be so, as mentioned
from Naza Peugeot site, as well as, when I bought the car, I was told the
great support I *should* be recieving by just a phone call when my car
broke down.

He can also be proud if he`s able to solve/CONTROL this major issue, and
giving back confidence and trust to current and future Peugeot owners.
So IMHO, being angry is merely being immature and childish.

guys,

don't really knows if nasim knows what is actually happening at ground
level. maybe the people around him are feeding him an incomplete picture.
but if he wants to shift peugeots in high volume he should get off his
high office and come to ground level to see for himself the kind of
aftersales service new peugeot owners are receiving.

bliiink,

Thank you so much for sharing, I read before your thread last time, but
forgotten about it and the thread's been pushed far back.

For your problem is ABS Light first then leads/triggers the "Sport"
and "Snow" mode?
So now we can roughly separate out the problems.

For this kind of problem, I believe should be easily detected by the
diagnosis tools. They should do a check first before informing how many
days they need, rather than wasting customer's time and worries.

I "THINK" if the gearbox has problem, most possibly the console would
show "Automatic Gear Fault". So pray that is not the what you see.

Do they charge you anything? It's under warranty, right?

1. What year is your car model?
July 2006(naza Bestari) Currently clocked at 36,000KM

2. How long have you driven your car?
Since the day i got my car, i drive everyday include Sunday so maybe i
drive around 350 days a year?

3. What`s the common traffic condition? Do you drive often on highways,
city or mixed?
Mostly mixed, travelling from USJ to Damansara need to pass 2 highways LDP
and Federal.

4. Did you speed often (rev high) or use sports mode often? Or maybe you
can share your driving habit?
Drive with heavy traffic condition often use heavy foot(rev high) <
4000RPM normal conditions would be light foot. Never use Sports mode, but
tried once not fun at all. Switch back to normal but use tiptronic manual
when drive at trunk road(back hometown) due to increase power when
overtake.

5. Did you expose your car to the sun a lot? (e.g. park under the sun)
Parked my car inside building while working, after work is already night.
So i'll say 90% protected from sun.

6. Is your area close to sea/sea water?
-_-'

7. Did you send your car for 10,000KM inspection and 20,000KM service?
Sent my car for 10,000KM inspection and first service 20,000KM. Looking
forward for 40,000KM service.

8. Any other information you feel you can share to help other compare?
So far, no gearbox faulty(TOUCH WOOD) aka Snow/Sports light blink. But
having problem mostly electrical part. Battery died within a year &
Alternator died recently.
Question: What could possibly damage the alternator? i googled and some
say cheap battery will damage it. What say you?

9. I found out some say gearbox faulty happen when the car isn't properly
warmed up. So additional question here. Did you warm up your car early in
the morning?
No, when i cranks up my car engine i left idle for 10 seconds then i drive
slowly for a minute or a 2 then only i drive with normal speed.
