The only lacking on the 407 is the power which is simple to correct after warranty expired ... the rest is superb .... stability cornering even 90kmh to 160kmh sprint ... with a ECU remap ... it can match the 308T in term of high speed cornering ... pickup will definitely increase ... lucky to have tried a 407 with ECU remap ... it make me smile whenever I press the throttle ....
408 Turbo ... you only feel the torque but 407 with ECU remap it is out of this world ... still feel the driving dynamic of 407 is still the best among other Peugeot ... comfort sporty redefine ...
If I can find a brand new 407 ... I dont mind trading in my 508 ...
PS: and yes 407 is quiet even at 200kmh ... better than the 508 wind of noise ...

YUP.....508 and its wind noise problem...... i thot this kind of problem should not have existed since the car must have been tested for its aerodynamic...... but then have to live with it...
407 in my opinion still has got its wow factor and the "look"...

But then again, a 3yr old 407, with mileage at almost 100k, I'm just worried problems would start creeping up, esp conti cars, am sure it'll be expensive to fix/maintain. Not forgetting fuel consumption too. Have to really find a good 2nd hand car, one that has been maintained very well. Hmmm...

I did a bit of research on ECU remap. 407 ECU remap produces 7% more hp, that would put it around 150hp. Does it really make that much of difference to the performance? Would you really give up your 156hp/240nm for 150hp/200nm. You'll probably be at 5000rpm ( may be slightly lower with the remap) to get the 200nm,while you'll hit 240nm at 1400RPM on your 508!

If you are really interested in the 407, then wait till next year. 3 month ago market value on 09 model was 95k, now it's $85k,$10k down after 408 intro. I'm sure next year it will drop to $75k or less! The one I was keen on had only 60k km and sounded pristine! You might be able to pick one of this and don't have to spend too much on wear and tear items. I'd say that's good value for money, i may even buy one as a second car! You can do the ECU remap, which will improve performance and FC. However you'll have to mod the engine further to beat THP performance. There are downside to engine mods!

Seems ppl here are experts in ECU remapping. Is there a significant change after the remap? I probably won't do it, since i don't know anything about cars more so tuning. I'll probably get cheated, as I always do when I go to a mechanic.

I asked the Balakong Svc Centres ... they do not know anything about it ...

I do not do research on the ECU remap on how much it can gain ... I JUST DO IT ... test it out I mean ... in real not in front of a PC ... yes I ditch the problem prince engine anytime ...
As I said .. 407 is more of a car than the 508 ... at low speed I guess the 240Nm wins hand down ... but the rest the 407 is on top... the AL4 gearbox really behave differently with a 407 ECU remap ... my favourite benchmark corner is the Kota Damansara exit from KL going towards the toll plaza ... the 407 take this corner at high speed(for me it is very fast la) like it is on rails which reminds me of my superbiker days ... the 508 cant beat this ... 407 definitely more stable which gave me more confidence to push it some more ...

similar to the THP engine ... you might need to do top overhaul every 10k km .... really frustrated with how Peugeot deal with the jerk and judder problem ... this is not a new engine but why take so long to solve the problem ... I just dont understand such a big company ...
