I did a quick search of "EVO engine oil" but I can't find anything about it. Sounds like one of those generic brands which are popping up everywhere. I have no idea of how good or bad EVO is. The problem with this kind of brand is that we're asked to take a leap of faith, trusting that the packager is using genuine, reasonable quality oil from a reputable manufacturer and re-branding it. Or maybe it's the individual packager's own formulation, as per the mixtures and the additives.
I'd prefer to stick with the reputable brands. Or at least with the Tesco house brand if I'm going cheap, because I believe it will take reasonable steps to source good-enough oils. But these unknown companies... I don't dare to try even though the price may be attractive. It may say "SS", "10W-40" and whatever else but how do we know it's true? This is my biggest concern. RM65/4 litres/SS - Just my opinion, but I'd prefer to add another RM5 and get Castrol GTX. Yes, it's mineral but at least I know for sure what I'm buying and using for the car. And this is "a good quality" mineral oil which may be better than many of those SS out there. I can trust everything on the can to be true. But the same can't be said of the lesser-known/unknown generic brands. What you see may not be what you get.

the branch near my place have this offer nicely shelved in a special rack
but surprisely, there are plenty of bottles there when i get it
yup, it's from EU. not sure why Giant got this as normally, Tesco / Aean Big get their stock from their global stockist
Since Giant should be 'buatan malaysia', really have no clue where they can get the 5l packing
anyhow, good for me as my car need 4.4l. quite troublesome to get the normal 4l sometimes

During the week before Raya, Giant had offered this same Shell Helix 5L along the "Raya Special" area at RM149. Aiseh, I had already bought a jug the previous week at the automobile/hardware area for RM159. I checked the labelling, date, API - they were the same jugs as the RM159.
By the way, I was at Tesco Mutiara Damansara last night. At the main aisle that separates the sugar etc. section from the bathroom items' section are some jugs of Mobil fully synthetic (3000? I can't remember but it was definitely 5W-40, 5 litres, fully synthetic). RM149. But there's a catch - they look to be old stock. I had searched for the manufacturing date at the bottom of the jugs but these have intentionally been obscured. There are markings but these have become illegible. They are API-SL specs.
I'm not happy Tesco (or the supplier) has intentionally scratched out the manufacturing date. I wouldn't be surprised if these are from before 2010. Better to wait for other engine oil offers.
