My normal gear change is also at around 1800 to 2000++, if I really press
the gas pedal, it will shift at around 3000. That is under normal (economy)
ECT mode.

I guess the Taxi you took in Bangkok was a 1.6. Gear ratio is high in 1st
gear, probably that is why it shifted between 3 to 4K.

Hi all sifus here,

Mine 1.6E Altis (year early 2005, now has clocked abt 24K) having a
light " Tak " sounds appeared on everytime i depressed d brake during
drives, since my last 10K servicing.

I have keep on complainted to the SC ( Ipoh - the only one UMW SC at Kuala
Kangsar Road), but till now they're yet able to rectify abt this and just
keeping such explained there is a normal which the sound was appeared form
the gear shift lock positined even car is moving on drives?????

By the way, the sound was not appeared on the gear shifting from P or
else....!! as is appeared everytimes i depressed d brake during drives????

Is worse that Ipoh is only one the SC, so i 've no other SC option in town
for the solutions!!! Angry Angry

So, just would like to have your valuable comments is your hv encounter
the same at ur Altis 1.6E, how is the solution??? Is it normal??? if not
an normal, if that serious impact to car security braking system which i
most feared???

I really appreciated if someone could advise the solution, and which SC
can be done in Penang, as i may travel penang occasionally every month.
Tks!!

Rgds,

switch on ECT-PWR and you will find it hard to get the shifting at lower
RPMs...

for those with heavy foot, ECT-PWR will have it shifting to red-line no
problem.

personally, i drive with ECT-PWR on all the time, as i find without it
quite lethargic, sometimes step on it oso dun wanna kickdown... I've
grown accustomed to keeping my foot light but i know power's there when
needed.

atiz05,

I don't have that sound everytime except the FIRST time when release the
brake pedal after I'v started the car. I have posted this before and from
the feed back, it seems like normal. As for your case, why don't you just
try with a Penang SC since you travel to Penang every month?

I notice a 'tot' noise from the gearshaft when I depress the brake pedal
while gear is in 'P'. I was told that it is the sound from the gearshift
unlock. This only happen when the gear is in 'P', not in others. However, I
noticed there was no such sound when I tested another Altis in SC last
week, I asked them why, but no answer was given.

By the way, there is actually a switch attached to the brake pedal. When
you depress the brake pedal, the switch will be released (the switch is
always 'pressed' when brake pedal is not depressed).

Now I got clicking noise when I depress my brake pedal after the SC changed
the switch last week. I notice the clicking noise is actually come from the
switch. Solve one problem but create another problem, luckily this is only
a small issue.

So, Atiz05, the noise your mentioned is actually a 'tit' or a 'tak'?

Hi vfp,

Thanks for ur above comments.

The sounds i have noticed either "tit" or "tat" which i dun no how to
described for it as it's really very light sounds appeared during driving
whenever everytimes i depressed d brake. To my realised it seems as what u
said on above that's a switch clicking under the brake pedal which i
knowing there should a switch supposed to my knowledge.

There is why the SC always in explained that is a releasing on panel of
gear shift locking and the switch on bottom brake pedal.

I have try to ask the Penang SC at Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah which located
beside City Bayview in Georgetown, they're seems responded on same.

Is it i am too particular on the sound isolution??? No....., I just fear
that may have any impact of the braking security system which may threaten
our life on driving especially highway drives which i'm oftenly uses.

I will further keep noising abt this on next service.

Rgds,

atiz05,

Nope, you are not too particular, I am worse. I told my SC, I am very
particular on quality, but I am reasonable too.

Anyway, if your noise mentioned previously is actually from the switch,
then no need to worry, I think it is safe but just anonying.
