Hi forummers,

the reason i started this thread is to share my experience on SGV 4x2 (they
call it 4x2 cos it's a 2WD engine, and the new version of SGV in Malaysia
is the 4x2)... after did some research on SUVs, finally i decided to choose
SGV 4x2... why? cos the price is affordable for a CBU SUV... i bought mine
in November 2007 from mofaz.. its already clocked 1000km after a week of
using it.. basically, they offered three packages for SGV 4x2:
1. 2.0 A/T
- Price = RM113,021.90 OTR
- Power steering
- Electric windows
- Front dual airbags
- ABS, EBD and BA
- Immobiliser
- Auto climate air conditioning

2. 2.0 A/T PREMIER
Specs include all of the 1st package plus:
- VKOOL tinting
- Leather seat
- Price = RM118,151.90

3. 2.0 A/T SE
Specs include all of the 1st package plus:
- Car navigation system by carnavi
- Price = RM120,091.90

mine is the first package... i added another RM2000 for Llumar tint films.
and i am thinking of installing a sidestep... maybe in the next financial
year..

so far, i like the build quality.. the solid sound when you close the
door.. the smoothness of the engine... and the auto volume control (AVC),
which will increase the stereo's volume when we speed up, and vice versa...
i found this feature in freelander td4 too... it's spacious.. NVH is
acceptable... and the auto climate conditioning, i really like this.. just
set the temperature, then it will do the rest to keep you cool and
comfortable..

btw, my first full tank cost me RM110... and i went for refueling after
413km, once the warning light came up.. and i think it can go another 10 to
20km before the tank is fully empty.. the refueling cost me RM93... and
mostly its a city driving condition.... i think the fuel consumption is not
that bad for a SUV..

the tyre size is 225/70R16.. but havent got a chance to survey for the price..

my complaints with SGV are lack of auto cruise control, doesnt have any
indicator on the power window switch except for the driver's side.. i dont
think it will affect the price significantly...

it comes with 2 years or 50,000km of free service and 3 years or 100,000km
of warranty..

anyone with SGV, mind sharing your experience?

Hi joe,

Thanks for sharing your experience. Am thinking about this car as an
option for my dad too.

"btw, my first full tank cost me RM110... and i went for refueling after

Not bad indeed for an SUV. Worked out to be about 8.5km/l for a brand new
2.0 suv with a yet-to-run-in engine. Not to worry, I am sure it could do
another 50-80km AFTER the lowfuel warning light has come on.Big Smile As you
can see from your own experience, there should still be another 10 litres
of fuel in your tank when you refuelled.

The thing that concerns me the most is the power. How does it drive?

Cheers.

sengthee,

power wise, a bit underpower as it's not meant for performance... if you
concerns about the power, then you should consider other option such as
ford escape 3.0 V6 etc...

btw, it has a "power button" beside the gear lever should you require extra
power... hehehe...

joe,

What I mean by power is not 3.0 V6 power per se. You don't need 3.0 to
have power. For I think that the 2.0 xtrail has "enough" power, so does
the 2.0 CRV. But the 2.0 Sportage lacks power.

sengthee,

the 2.0L engine is adequate for a normal day-to-day driving but lack of
power for fast launch...

Just to bring up this topic..as i just brought a units of this SGV 2x4 for
my wife..last week just clocked 10k km after 4 months ownership,
done 1st service at SC at bangsar and to my surprise the service
adviser over there not even knowing my car spec...

i ask the service adviser : is this rear wheel or front wheel drive ?
answer is not sure la...
then ask again how many o2 sensor it have ? answer is also not
sure la....
then ask what is the rim offset and pcd ? answer is still also not sure
la..
then lazy want to ask any more...thing like what is the headlamp bulb
spec? engine oil spec ? coolant spec ? ATF spec?.....

the reason i ask those question is just because in the owner manual
had stated this car with few specification worldwide that need
different level of attention, and my sale person at Glenmarien
showroom cant provide me the actual specification of this model...

any one here can help to share the information ?

Next time service your car in Mofaz. I drive a CBU swift. Back then, service in Mofaz was very good. But after the launch of the CKD batch of Suzukis, the standard has dropped drastically so I tried once in Bangsar ~ Just because I didn't have to wait 10 days to service my car. Can go anytime you want.

I found out that the Bangsar SC ppl indeed know very little about the car. I had a lot of questions too, but was not given an adequate answer by their tech staff. A lot of those things can be answered in Mofaz, even if the service quality has dropped.

Sorry for the OT on the SGV's thread. But i guess its relevant to SGV's users to choose your SC too. And btw, there is also no standardised pricing for your servicing after your free service are over. Different SC charge diff rates!

Easiest is to buy your SGV from Mofaz and do everything there. At least you can get everything done from one place. Mind you, Suzuki parts are rare, so you'll have to wait for a long time. If you buy a Honda or Nissan, there will be plenty around.

Just my personal experience with Suzuki.

Thank you duck for sharing the experience of your, but think wouldn't consider sending to Mofaz even though their have good technical knowledge of Suzuki cars as 10days service appointment perior is consider too long for my busy schedule... still prefer to drive to SC any time when i off the work commitments..

but wonder which SC - Mofaz or Bangsar SC are charging higher price ?

and yes agreed on spare parts of Suzuki are hard to get especially on CBU models that recently i had minor accident that require to replace few items on undercarriage that take about month to arrived from japan....
