Re: the current models of truck pickUps

I am thinking of getting a pick up truck in addition to my car. I am basically looking for comfortable but very reliable pickups. My place of work have so many potholes and uneven level patching roadworks due to the monorail project.
Any advice for me?

You have not supplied enough info for any meaningful advice.

If your concern is just potholes, if they are not too big, any large-tired and high-clearance car will cope better than a saloon and that could mean ANY pick-up truck.

If you are looking for a pick up truck then the Ford Ranger, Mazda BT50 and the Chevy Colorado are the top of the pile. The BT50 is the same as the Ranger but the 2.2 has traction control. I didn't look too hard at the Colorado because of Chevy's reputation in Malaysia.

The Jap trucks are all from the previous generation so they are outdated by the Americans now. They'll catch up soon.

I have tested Hilux, Triton, D-Max & BT50. Here is my take :

Hilux :

-Clumpsy. Higher ride. Oldy dashboard.
-Good at interior space

D-max :

-Noisy old engine. Got the Proton interior look. Not likely to get impress with its interior design.
-Nice switch on 4X4 system

BT50 :

- Classy dashboard, quiet engine. Sport mode +/-. 6Gear Auto
- Tight seat quality

Triton :

- Oldest design type in interior, fame for comfort ride but suffer on rough condition
- 5 Gear Auto + old Grade Logic type gear
- Fancy sunroof + leather seat
- Value for money?

I presumed if everything remains as std, 10L/100 is generally achieveable.
