Case 1

Most of the time I send my car to Sing Huat for service and maintenance as per schedule. After my 110km service; my car has oil leakage. I called Sing Huat for appointment and it was schedule on 24th November 2014 9am. I sent in my car on time for checking, however, did not hear from them until I called them several times after 4pm. They still unable to give me answer when exactly I can get back my car and what happened to my car. After few times checking with the service centre, finally they are able to find out that oil leakage is due to cylinder head cover and brake vacuum pump are spoiled. They are unable to replace it immediately as there is no stocks. I was told that they only able to order the parts on 1st week of December 2014.

My car sent in to service centre on 17th December 2014 for parts replacement. I was charged RM 133.50 for set of caskets, RM 677 for vacuum pump and total RM 135 of labour cost. I was told that oil leakage is fixed when I collect my car on the same day. Then, I travelled to overseas and back on 27th December 2014. On 28th December 2014, I started my car engine and noticed that my car is vibrating and engine auto-dignostics system light on. Immediately I called towing to send my car back to Sing Huat. I called Sing Huat on 29th December 2014 to inform them that there still oil leakage and engine auto-dianostics system light on. According to the front desk officer, they will check and get back to me on the problems.

Mr. Pang from Sing Huat returned my called on 29th December 2014 evening informed me that engine auto-dianostics system light on is due to faulty of engine ignition coil unable to supply electric to the engine and caused the engine spark plug faulty. I will need to pay RM 533.35 inclusive of labour cost for the replacement. He also informed me that oil leakage is due to spoil of cover casket. I told him that cover casket was changed on 17th December 2014; he request me to send him the service invoice as their system down, unable to check the record. I sent him copy of service invoice via whatsapp. He told me he will refer to the technician.

Mr. Pang called me again on 30th December 2014, informed me that there is dirty stuff at the engine and technician has clean it, there is no more oil leakage and they will help me to replace the engine ignition coil and spark plugs. The customer service officer called me on 31st December 2014 that my car is ready to collect. I informed her that I unable to make it, will arrange to collect my car again.

I collected my back on 2nd January 2015. I then noticed my car still has oil leakage, I whatsapp Mr. Pang on 5th January 2015 on the issue. He requested me to send back my car to service centre for checking. I am very angry on the matter, I sent in my car twice for checking but still the problem is not fixed.

I sent in my car to Sing Huat on 14th January 2015 morning. I complaint that my oil leakage problem still not fixed after sent in several times. Without checking, one of the male officer from front desk said that the oil leakage might caused by other parts. There is no leaking when my car is in the service centre, hence, technician unable to check. It has raise my concerns that what kind of irresponsible words and I felt the technicians are unprofessional, they did not check my car thoroughly during few times I sent in my car. I informed the officer that I will leave my car overnight and request to check thoroughly.

I received call from the officer today at 4.33pm, he informed me that oil leakage is caused by faulty of some part at the bottom of the engine. Previously, leakage from top of the part and now is at the bottom. This has freak me out. What kind of reason that I heard? Is the technician not doing their part or someone is sabotage my car makes me visit again and again and I have to pay again and again. Besides, the officer is arguing with me. I requested to speak to the manager and explanation letter why could this happened. I was told that the manager is on leave. I requested him to get higher management to explain to me.

Mr Pang called me at 4.49pm told me that previously the oil leakage from the cover casket has dirty the "parts" from up flow caused the technician unable to check. After clean of the "parts" on my visit on 29th December 2014, it seems no more leakage and leakage only will be seen after certain mileage. I informed him that my car was in the service centre since 28th December 2014 till 2nd January 2015. It should be sufficient time to check. Besides, I can noticed it within 2 days when my car is parked inside the car porch, the reason given is unacceptable. Mr. Pang informed me that the part need to be changed. He has spoken to the manager and manager is agreed to give 15% discount on parts and labour cost, which total is RM 500 net. I told him that it is unacceptable to charge me labour cost again as I sent in my car again and again, there is parts faulty after each time I sent in and until now problem still not fixed. Mr. Pang said he will discuss to his manager and get back to me again on 15th January 2015.

I've learnt my lesson is that if the car is no longer in warranty, just send to outside specialist to fix in rather than SC. only go to SC for normal servicing

my case with Sing Huat Premium is my coolant leaking and they repair it for 600++, then after 1 week my coolant totally burst on my way down from Frasers Hills, towed the car to Sing Huat back, they say its other parts that caused the coolant to burst, not the ones they replaced before. So need to pay (again) another 1000+ to fix it.

That's it for me, no more going to SC for repairs.. Just service due to the stamp on the service book..

Could they prove it was not the problem from previous changed part?

In that case unless the parts outside are relatively cheaper then ok. Like Audi and VW, I heard there are 2 parallel importers for spare parts and they are much cheaper then SC, therefore buying the parts from them and doing the repairs outside of SC, will be much cheaper... smile_tongue.gif

My friend having a 308T told me, he will be selling his after the warranty period.... smile_shock.gif

It is indeed much cheaper, Had the High Pressure Fuel Pump failed recently, SC charged RM120 just to diagnose the problem where I can just diagnose it myself using an OBD2 scanner (thought they would give a more detailed result compared to my RM50 OBD2 dongle). They quoted RM3.5k++, got it replaced outside for RM2k only..
