Hi Jim,

You can call JB on 07-238 2722. Ask for Sandra. She'll be able to guide
you there.

In brief, if you know the BMW dealer - Auto Bavaria near Dunga Bay ?
We're next to the Petronas Station.

Cheers and good luck !

Chris

Hi Chris,

would you confirm whether the tint film for the rear screen is supposed to
go on the outside or inside and what are the effects on the demister?? as
far as i know the film is supposed to go on the inside of the glass!!

i'm asking becoz i saw a car accs. shop sticking the tint film on the
outside on a brand new MyVi with gold dust. i thought the film is not
supposed to cover the demister right?? and can they stick gold dust on the
windscreen??? gonna be a lot of reflectivity, right???

pls illuminate. thanks

Hi Beeswax,

Most window films are meant to be installed on the inside glass surface.
However, there are some films that are designed to be installed on the
exterior glass surface but only on special applications.

To be fair, the car accs. shop might be heat forming the film using the
external glass surface/curvature. If you believe they were actually
installing the film externally, I would say it's impractical as the film
will be exposed to excessive wear and tear from our weather.

Film installed over demister lines should not pose any problems. As long as
the film is allowed to dry out and cure properly say over a period of 4~6
weeks after installation, the result should be fine. The problems begin
when the demister is switched on before the film is allowed to dry
sufficiently that can result in the film lifting off the demister lines
leaving an air gap. You will see this air gap at night when headlights from
the car behind shines thru your rear window and you see light refracting
off the demister lines that can distract your night driving.

Front windscreen film should allow VLT 70% in order to be within JPJ
guidelines. If you look thru any car's front windscreen and you can't see
the driver or front seat passenger clearly because it's too dark or
reflective, then it is likely that they are outside the JPJ guidelines.

Hope you are well illuminated !

Thanks

Chris

Hi Crap,
I'm not sure whether Chris will reply us as his last post was nearly 2
years ago! (back in June 2005). I need clarification as well. I came
across a tint shop in Kulim, right next door to the Toyota showroom when
i collected my new Camry last week and they were promoting Llumar tint
films, but now it's known as MagnumCP. FYI, the principal manufacturer of
these films are CP Films USA. The guys at the shop told me that MagnumCP
has taken over from Llumar as the distributor for CPFilms. I plan to
install my car this coming weekend. Meanwhile, you can drop me an email
and i'll provide you with the contact details of the shop.

Let's hope that Chris will be able to provide further clarification as
well.
