From Nissan web side they claim 12.2km/1 liter that mean RM50.00 (35.21
liter) this car can go until 429km with 35 liter.

alredy complain at TCM Prai and they reprogramme back my ECU but still
cannot solved the problem.I hope somebody can give me the advised ,this is
the first time I am buying car from Nissan and I have no idea about Nissan

Zulkutty,

From your figures, which works out to be about 8.5 km/liter, the fuel
consumption of youe Serena appears ok.

Mine is model year 2003 C24, before this current facelift. Previously
when my wife was travelling regularly on longer distances (approximately
50 km a day), the Serena was returning about 8 km/l. (but she is a rather
aggressive driver, mind you, with her driving style requiring more fuel).
I normally could achieve 10% better fuel consumption compare to my wife's
driving.

Nowadays, however, with the travelling down to about 20 km a day, which
consists of about 4 or 5 short round trips. The fuel consumption? Trust
me, you don't want to know! I remember something like 180 km for RM 50,
which works out to be about 5 km/l.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Sengthee,

Thanks for your info,I am wonder how come Nissan can claim 12.2km/liter in
web site http://www.nissan.co...erformance.html but at
the pratical we can get it.previously i am driving Toyota Unser RM50 I can
get 350 to 380 km in town mode driving highway can get 400km (100km and
below). My sister drive Naza Ria with RM50 can get 320km to 350 town mode
driving but at highway we can get 380km.

Everyday I am traveling 50km with 20km climbing mode because I am stay at
Balik Pulau,I have no problem with my previous Toyota Unser but with this
Serena I am Crazy with fuel consumption.

Zulkutty,

The claim of 12.2km/l is probably the best attained. Without knowing the
actual test, whether it is urban, extra urban etc, it is rather difficult
to accuse Nissan of anything.

There is such a test where a vehicle is driven at a constant 90 kph for
best fuel consumption results. I am not sure if the 12.2km/l claim
belongs to that category.

Anyway, I have driven the Serena from KL to Penang before with 4 adults
and 3 children (1,6 & 8) plus baggages, basically the van is FULL! And I
did get about 10.5 km/l with speed of +/- 100 kph. Oh, forgot to mention
also that my Van is fitted with 17" rim with 215 50 tyres too, that
should compromise a bit on the FC.

Based on your FC figures of the Unser and Ria, they do seem rather good.
My friend's Ria can only do about 7 km/l in KL city driving.

BTW, what's your mileage now?

sengthee,

My mileage now just touching 1300km and i am using all the standard tyre
and S/rim I am a bit suprise with fuel consumption but the car
performance not bad the engine very smooth my concern only the fuel? the
rest no complain yet.Actualy it was good car for big family like me.

Also forgot to tell you my previous unser use fuel saver device install at
injection air intake after install this device my car can go with RM50 from
380km to 420km base on driving mode before that I only can get 350km to
380km also increase your engine acceleration for pick up .I still have it
and I am going to install to my serena and see the result.

Zulkutty,

Was your Unser manual or auto ? Figures I get from friends for Unser auto
is up to 18 sen /km or 7.8 km/l for town driving.

Your Ria figures are quite amazing. Kia must have a super efficient
engine here. But,seriously, I doubt it 's correct. It probably for
highway driving-lah.

But then, depends on how you define town driving. If you're driving around
Klang Valley with lots of highways, is that considered town driving or
highway driving .

Ria 1.9 ton- heavyweight
Serena 1.6 ton- middle weight
Unser 1.4 ton - light weight

Comparing the weights alone, if your Ria figures are correct, I think the
Koreans have managed to upstage the Japs.

Try to borrow your sis's Ria and try climbing up and down Balik Pulau for
a week and calculate the FC.

ctzen,

My unser is 1.8 manual if auto I am not sure but I hear from some owner it
more worst for auto.If your friend want to save the patrol for unser ask
him to drive below 90 km/hr + push the padel slowly try for 1 week and see
the result.you would be suprise for FC.

My sister Naza Ria always driving From A/Star to penang that mean highway
mode,if you drive updown climbing balik pulau sure la cannot get good FC.
my kapchai also cannot make it.

Dear All,

While it is nice to make claims of consumption high or low, can anyone
tell me the method you all use to measure. Is it from full tank to full
tank and taking the average milage or by feel that RM 50 can bring you so
far?
I have monitored Serena C23 consumption for years and I don't find it
very high unless some of the sensors are not reliable.

Rgds.

selfmech,

the method that I use is.

1.Fill up your tank until full
2.drive your car until 300km or 400km or up to you
3.Fill up again your tank until full
4.Calculate (ex 300km/35.21 liter(RM50/1.42 = 35.21 liter))= 8.52km/liter
= 6km/RM1

Zulkutty,

Can't compare manual and auto FC. Unser auto is notorious for its FC.

When are the durians coming ? You have a durian orchard there ? Soong Ai
Ling's dad has one there.

selfmech,

when fuel indicator light comes out, fill it up and drive till it comes
out again.Big Smile
