wkcheah,

Refer my comments after a week driving.

1. Agreed with you but fine it okay. Might tell them during my 5k service. Still gathering info..
2. I am suspecting that as well...
3. minor jerks when moving slowly...yes
4. Yes..but i fine it is normal..i will normally let it run for 5 min before driving.
5. Yes..i do notice that..the back door is fine. I fing the front 2 doors might need to adjust.

Overall the car is good. As for the issue above, it can be rectify during our next service.

Pleasant driving for those got it...and for the rest....you won't regret.......

I sent my car to the service centre to check on the problems mentioned above. Below is the outcome:

1. high RPM during cold start - this is normal (according to the service manager, the car need to bring up the engine temperature to at least 80 degree celcius)
2. Hum sound - he suspected is due to the ABS pump, so now he took out my ABS and ask me to try for 2 days. However, yesterday after he took out the ABS, I experienced that hum sound again, this time is when the car idling and i switched on and off the aircond. so far is happened once and i couldn't simulate the problem again until today.
3. minor jerk - he couldn't detect any and similar to the hum sound i also couldn't simulate the problem until now
4. front door loose - he told me there is nothing for him to adjust.

All these intermittent problems really difficult to resolve...sigh. sad.gif

I sent my car to Advantegarde in Bandar Tun Razak. If anyone of u having the same problems and found a service centre which can resolve the problems do let me know ya.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I got possession of my Standard Spec YF on 30 Aug and todate is about one and a half month and had clocked 2088km up till today. Bro wkcheah really oustanding to clock 4000+ km in such short time!

Here are some of experience of my YF:
1) Yes, mine also having high RPM when start from cold and glad to know its normal;

2) Hum sound also got. I was suspecting that it might be due to the fan? Actually my previous car, Matrix, also acted similarly. The SC told me that the fan design for that car actually will run at higher speed when the engine is hot. It's not that the its overheating, just that it will try to keep it at optimal temp when the sensor sensed that the engine is hot. So i guess YF should be similar? This is quite technical so maybe the SC need to read up the service manual a bit.

3) Minor jerk at low speed also got. Actually i think its due the gear ratio but need SC to really confirm my logic. I reckon that the YF when travelling at low speed or low RPM, the gear shifting might change or at times might shift to higher gear. So in fact sometime i even feel all the sudden it's picking up speed eventhough i did not accelerate.

4) My doors are quite ok. So far nothing wrong with it.

5) Hankook Optimo Tyres .... i would say its a bit noisy and bouncy. Was wondering what tyre pressure you guys put? Anyone tried nitrogen? Technically should give lower noise and better grip right?

6) Handling, so far the fastest i did on the car was 160km/h on a straight stretch on MEX h/way to Putrajaya. On straight line i think it is gripping ok but when taking high speed corners somehow its not gripping well. Maybe due to wrong tyre pressure? or prob i'm not really used to the lighter steering. Can someone give some input?

7) Acceleration ... its great when you tekan a bit. I think the car has enough power to out perform many of the same class. But that is just my feel without any actual test tongue.gif

8) Looks. I guess no need to say already. It's really a head turner. So far it attracts many attention and i hope those that was starring at our car know where they are driving. Hehe, we don't sekali accident due to looking at YF plak :")

Overall I am really satisfied and proud having this car. Cheers mate! smile.gif

With so many of us experiencing the same hum, jerk at low speed, and high rpm on cold starts, looks like it's normal. As long as the happiness and joy of driving it outweighs the jerk/hum/rpm I'll live with it haha smile.gif

Yesterday i sent my car for the first K service, i mentioned these issue to the service officer.

After checking, she said

1. Higher RPM while morning is normal
2. Hum sound - she said the technical adjust and tighten the timing belt, asked me to test it.. After that i didn't feel the hum sound during idle time, but it's still happen while we slow down while reaching tranffic light, the duration is so short and not so obvious already.
3. Tyre pressure - i didn't check the pressure after getting the car, i also wonder what is the optimum pressure to use for Sonata?

Overally, i am very happy with the car and service provided by SD in glenmarie, i think they are really improving alot.. Good job..

Hi all,

The tyre pressure is stated at the label near the door frame. It should be 33psi but i put in 34psi as the Optimo tyre is kinda soft on the side wall. You should checked the tyre pressure as most of the time the car is delivered with tyre pressure above the specificated pressure.

Higher RPM in the morning is expected as the car will increase the idling speed to get the engine to the optimal tempreature. Not to be alarmed........as most car are like that. Just that you are abit more sensitive coz it is a new car and u will probably look out for faults. smile.gif

As for the jerking during slow speed, i suspect it is the hill descent control module doing its job... remember in the product brochure, the hill descent control is suppose to hold your car at a steep for about 2 seconds and it is control by some Gyro sensor, yaw sensor, traction sensor and also the throttle sensor. I suspect sometimes when we accelerate abit and stop, the Gyro sensor is moving and activating thus the slight jerk that u feel. This will only happen on ad hoc as it depended on the sensor detecting certain motion and movement within the car. This is my explanation on the jerk that is felt by most of the new Sonata YF owners including me. Maybe I am wrong, u can always check with the technical people on this.

BTW, I have clocked more than 2,000km since taken delivery and so far I am impressed by the fuel consumption. I am clocking from 7.5l/100km to 11.8l/100km during this period with a mixture of highway and city driving.

Other than that.... just getting the look from alot of people on the car...smile.gif

Dear All,
Enclosed the Hyudai Service Schedule and estimated cost for each service for your reference.

i think Hyundai suggest us to use the fully Synthetic Motor Oil (Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 based on my yesterday service) and service every 10K km for the latest Tucson and Sonata owner. This will save our time by sending the car for servicing every 5k or 3 months.
All bro, any comment on the Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 oil?

Thanks for that! I'm guessing the costs would be marginally higher for the 2.4... But still, pretty reasonable even when comparing against what i was paying for my 2.0l Sei Fei Lo...
