I replaced my water separator and diesel filter, my service center charging me as below.
Diesel Fuel Filter = RM360 X 2 = RM720
Water Separator Switch = RM180

I guess you are the only performance hardcore here, hehehe.. I read somewhere to idle the engine awhile before shutting off the engine, especially after a fast ride. Can something be installed that can do this automatically like some turbo cars like Evo?

Hi,

You can install turbo timer but make sure a very good one. I've done it previously on my turbo kancil but it gave problem sometime not working and tired to wait 1 minute for the engine to stop.

Have you heard any Rexton tried this? Right now, can hear a wind shut off sound when I off my engine that is most probably coming from the turbo. I do tried to wait abit before OFF the engine but not really inconvenient to do it every time especially when you have guests with you that seems a little odd to wait awhile in the car. Not sure if this is something of concern.

http://www.bsmotorin...an-plant/2474/1

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) would set up an assembly line at its Chakan plant for making Ssangyong sport utility vehicles (SUVs), said Pawan Goenka, president (automotive and farm equipment sector) of the Mumbai-based utility vehicle maker.

“The new assembly line for the Ssangyong products would come up at Chakan. He, however, declined to state how much they would invest for setting up the assembly line.

M&M is in the final stages of acquiring troubled South Korean automaker Ssangyong Motor Company (SYMC). The company expects to seal the deal with Ssangyong before November-end, after it completes the detailed due diligence process, expected to get over by next month.

The company is charting a road map for launching SYMC’s vehicles here. The company is considering two products from the Ssangyong portfolio, Korando C and Rexton, to launch in India. While Korando C is a compact SUV, Rexton is a large-sized premium SUV. Mahindra will sell these products under the Ssangyong brand in India.

M&M’s Chakan plant can produce 300,000 units a year and will see an investment of Rs 5,000 crore over a period of time. The plant can manufacture all M&M products, ranging from a 0.5-tonne cargo vehicle to 49-tonne Mahindra Navistar heavy truck and sport utility vehicles.

http://www.goauto.co...A2577580007F38A

The Korando C is a vital new ‘hero’ model for the brand, according to marketing manager Steven Thomas.

The Korando C has a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with an Australian-made Drive Systems International six-speed auto or manual transmission and all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. A 1.8-litre turbo petrol engine is in development but is at least 12 months away.

Hi Bro errieykawa, wow so envy riding to Betong, never invite us together also. Bro byebye2u is only 45 mins away from the border, hehehe. Which date is good for you, will try to see the best date to accommodate the most?

Our Rexton hub surely growing more active with more Rextonians joining us and everyone is just great in sharing info. You are right, time will come when our group grow big enough to start a dedicated website.

Some suggestions to try, though I am not a techie

1. ABS Light ON - Is the ABS light permanently ON or it is intermittent? Did you tried emergency break and see if the ABS is working or not? If it is working, you will feel the knocking effect of ABS. If the ABS is working, it could be issue with the sensor and wiring that would not be as worrying. Bring to your workshop to confirm and quote you the repair cost. Get a few quotes to compare. You can check out with bro dunstant that has a contact to a private ex-Merc Specialist that service his Rexton quite well.

2. While driving and turning to left can hear sound cik cik cik... - What is the speed that the sound started producing? Does it sounds like metal friction or only sound when there is hump or is wind sound? If metal fiction, chances is to check on brake pad. If it sound only on hump, could be the absorber bush and if wind sound, it depends on the speed that you are moving.

Once you narrowed down the source of the sound, then easier to identify the cause of the problem. You can then survey on the price beforehand. So the workshop can't smoke you anyhow.

Mine has slight wind sound on driver window that started from about 120kmh and became irritating at about 140kmh because the cabin is damn quiet and then this sharp wind sound keep coming in. Have not check this out further though.

How does the power steering feel when you have the SSPS sensor on? Does it felt much heavier on low speed and how it felt at high speed?

Right, the more features and electronic a car has the more parts to be maintained. The same case like your drive Merc or BMW, so got to bear the bill while enjoying the comfort. Maybe I try to check with my service center for the price to double check.

Hi R3xt0n, Nik, and others.
I am Rexton owner, Purple, 2004, I am from Penang, maybe one day we can TT at Prai Auto City.
Actually i have a group of friends, 8 all together own the Rexton. smile_tongue.gif , all from KL, except me.
I still keep my Hilux for daily work, from my experienced, Hilux is tough and cheaper to maintain, whereas Rexton is more for comfort ride with family.
R3xt0n,
I saw u changed two fuel filters??
You meant you use one as water separator??
Actually, they are different, water separator is around RM498 after 20% discount from service center.

Happy Birthday to Malaysia. smile_thumbup.gif

Welcome Bro Hasher, please feel free to share your experience and info on Rexton with us here. Added you to the Rexton Owner list, we have 8 now and more to come. Get your friends join us here too. Something must be really solid for all 8 of you guys to own Rexton together. Care to share more?

We already planning for the first TT at KL at end of Sept/early Oct. Do join us together with your friends if you happen to be around KL during that time. Just imagine having a dozen of Rexton lining up together, sure looks grand. I don't mind driving up to Pg for TT too if the schedule is right, afterall I am only 1 hour away. Bro byebye2u is not far from you too.

It is rare to see a purple Rexton, I think I have not saw one yet. Yes, Rexton is good for family ride, my 2 kids love to play at the 3rd row seat because it has a big blower there and can hide from me.

Maybe they classified it together as one in their bill as it is quite a long list on my first major service since I bought it over.
