I am focussing more toward whats it like to drive as exterior means nothing to me.
Let me start on the interior.
Its all leather inside which really makes me envy this model as my BLM is only fabric.
The pattern is interesting and its a little harder than the fabric seat to seat on. Quality is top notch. Door panel oso got leather trim. Gearknob looks great and nice to hold. Red stiching adds to the sportiness. However, the handbrake lever looks a little rough, the finishing is not tidy at all. Built quality is good, even better than my 1st batch. Power window is on all 4 door which i dont really need as 2 is enough. Other plastic are the same.
Drive impression.
The 1st i notice is the car seems to be slow to start moving. This is my 1st time driving a CVT-equipped car. It seems to response slower than a normal 4-speeder auto. Once its start moving, its all smooth. Power delivery is smooth if u drives it sedately and u will never be out of power. Hill climb? Its nothing with the 1.6. I can always feel its has a lot of reserve power when i drive it in a relaxed manner, its like there is an invinsible force waiting just a tap of the pedal away. I test it around city at 1st and i can straightaway tell that the suspension setup is totally different. Its soft but not too soft. Rear feels harder than my BLM. The suspension feels very2 comfortable indeed.
Harder drive test
After a smooth and comfortable cruise in town i turn to a stretch of twisty road. Again the car is totally different in corner. The front dont understeer very early and the rear is more in check. Body roll is lesser. With the CVT, pulling out of corner is no issue. Braking is also seems to be better, the bite is there should u needs it. I dont test the ABS if u ask me as the salesperson already gave me the look when i whack it on 1st few set of corner. I was tailing a Pesona when i test its real potential as the salesperon gave me the green light to floor it. I only press 3/4 down, few milisecond latter the RPM shoot up and i turn right to overtake, acceleration is superb. When i was turning and the RPM is at 4k, the steering fight back my input. Seems like there GB is dumping a surge of torque and i am experiencing a torque steer. Its minor and u can adjust to it. Not sure if its the character of the CVT.
Then i got the chance to floor it on straight......all i can say is that this car is a budget sports car. Reaching 100kmh is too easy and acceleration is non stop. Seems like the engine is too powerful for the body.
The SAT button is revving the engine too agressive for normal drive.let it be in normal mode during normal drive.
Conclusion?
Forget Vios, forget City, forget Pesona and even Myvi 1.5....This is the one i want to have. Its alot more car for a lot less money. Now where is my cash reserve as i need some serious upgrade to catch up to this one....

B4 the test drive i only envy the leather, after the test drive i really want the whole car. The GB really change the experience.
It reminds me of the Waja 1.8 that provide never ending power delivery.
One more thing i forgot to mention, the powertrain seems to be noisier. Salesperson said its due to the car still new. Mileage only 150km. I think its the trademark of the CVT. can anyone confirm on this?
It seems hard to convince my office mate that this Proton is a different animal. Only way to experience is to test it.

Wah! Even better than persona. How does it compare to a Gen2 CPS? Close...

can confirm its due to the transmission....whether it better over time or not i'm not sure....coz some would become worst over time..some would become better (quiter) over time as the transmission loosen to its working spec.

For the price, Gen2 oso kalah lah.....hehehe.
However, do remember that the Saga uses torsion beam on the rear so dont expect better handling than Gen2.
Engine wise, the 1.6 IAFM do the job superbly as the CVT helps a lot.
IMHO the IAFM-equipped Campro is a little smoother than CPS powerplant.

Really?
Well to me its a little too noisy...
